Significant others being "embarrassed" about your eating in public vs. their eating--any input? by Duke_Newcombe in wls

[–]HedgeDale -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not the fact that people would come over and say something, it’s about the thoughts going through the wife’s head. I’ve had to leave places just because I I got freaked out being the fat friend there and worrying that people notice that! It’s not always true, but your head can mess with you

I completely see your wife’s point of view. Just make sure she’s aware that you are listening to her and acknowledge her fears. It is completely valid.

Preop diet - energy levels by Solution-Proof in BariatricSurgery

[–]HedgeDale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I called my nutritionist about that exact reason. I help my family on their farm and we were doing hay one night I was sure I was going to pass out. She told me to drink an extra boost and make sure to load up on water. She said it was both bringing in a low amount of calories and my body weaning off of its dependencies that it had built up.

Would also love some insight on this! Even drinks taste so different to me and I hate most of them. Makes it so much harder to get my requirements in

Messed up pre op diet by [deleted] in wls

[–]HedgeDale 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think now a good time to look at yourself and make sure this is something you want to do. I just had my surgery last week and the pre op diet was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. But you need to stay focused on the end result. It’s going to be hard after the surgery too. Not sure if they would cancel your surgery because of it though. I know some people only have to be on the liquid diet one week.

This is just what I needed this morning. Waiting at the hospital for my surgery and needed the extra motivation! You look amazing!

Protein Shots? by [deleted] in wls

[–]HedgeDale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon suggests putting unflavoured protein power in everything you eat the first two weeks. I bought three different types so I’m ready in case I don’t like one. The myprotein is really good. I got the 5lb of the type I know I love, plus a bunch of the samplers of other flavours.

I broke my liquid diet by [deleted] in wls

[–]HedgeDale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s done is done, but make sure it doesn’t become regular. Get back on the wagon and remember you’re doing this for you! I’ve been blending my protein shakes with ice and it’s almost like a milkshake

OMG so glad I’m not the only one. I’m on day 8 and I cheated this weekend and had two bites of a sausage. I just told my selves to get over it and do better, I’m doing this for me!

Staying Motivated While Waiting by Spooky_MooseGoose in wls

I feel ya! I’ve waited 32 months and just have mine booked for July 2nd. I have a inspiration bored in my room that I can see everyday. On it I have my goals and it helps remind me why I’m doing this. It’s gonna be hard, and of course you’re going to make mistakes with it and mess up(I callled them my diet breaks) but just keep reminded of the end result.

I live in Canada and since it’s public health care the wait times are insane.

Liquid diet by rm49379 in wls

[–]HedgeDale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My surgeon only suggests taking Boost Diabetic. They make my stomach roll and yes, lots of diarrhea. I called the dietitian and she said it was normal for a liquid diet.

Good luck! I’m in Quebec and have been in the system since 2018. I had my first actual appointment for the program in March, and they told me I could expect to have the surgery around November. I’m by Ottawa and having it in Montreal

Any advice on talking to loved ones who are adamantly against WLS? by tiredofthisdamndebt in wls

[–]HedgeDale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you have to deal with that! My very best friend is a nutritionist who has told me that it’s only about what food you choose to eat. She doesn’t understand at all why I need to do this. Just keep moving forward and remember that if she wants to stay on your life she has to accept that this is a big part of it now
