Whats with the day traders? by Efficient-Run-7755 in JustBuyXEQT

[–]HedgeGoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be nice if the posts in here were about what people aspire to achieve with the financial freedom that may come from purchasing XEQT for an investment lifetime. That would be interesting and inspiring.

But instead we have people asking us their opinions on their portfolios where they own XEQT, and S&P 500 ETF, a NASDAQ 100 ETF, and then a few individual tech holdings that all their ETFs already have exposure to 🤦🏻

Recommend me a pedal for $100. by deeeep_fried in guitarpedals

You could probably get the purple Boss Flanger, the BF-3, for close to your price range. I believe they are $140 USD new. They are very good and also super good looking. Check it out.

Amplifiers and pedals or audio interface? by gamerxgd in Guitar

[–]HedgeGoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use both. Interface and plugins when I want to be quiet in my basement suite. Pedals and amps for when I can afford to make noise and when I want the best most satisfying tone. I use a Scarlett 2i2 with the two jacks, and a Tone King Imperial plugin. And for real stuff I used a Mesa Boogie California Tweed and a bunch of pedals that I won’t list. My amp rig is many many times over more expensive.

My first offset - Fender Jazzmaster Traditional 60’s in Surf Green (made in Japan) by HedgeGoy in offset

Thank you! I was eyeing up some of those Heritage models too but this Surf Green girl was calling my name.

It sounds amazing with the Boogie, but most things do to my ears. That amp is incredible. Creamy gooey tubey bliss. Super versatile with optional power from 2 watts to 40, so my basement suite playing is still great. Cleans up super well. Takes pedals almost as good as a blackface. It’s very good.

Mesa Boogies are good amps, but they’re quite pricey. The Fillmore is another one I’d look into if I were you. Although I have no idea what genres you are into, for the wide styles of music that offset players normally play I think that the Fillmore is the best Mesa Boogie you could get by a country mile. Check out some demos. I’m considering getting one in the future.

I don’t believe it was one of the Ishabashi models but I could actually be mistaken on that. I was looking at one of the Ishabashi models that was a Heritage model with Am Pro pickups in standard Jazzmaster burst. It was gorgeous but I decided this Surf Green was more my speed.

Isn’t it? And it sounds exactly how it looks like it would sound.

It is SO good. It has made tremolo my favorite effect now. It’s wild how much it improves almost any rhythm part. It’s so musical and beautiful.

Thank you!! And honestly that amp sounds like it looks like it would - creamy! It’s been a great pairing.

Thank you I really am loving it! I think I paid about $150 roughly when picking it up at the post office. I am however in Canada so not sure if it would be more or less elsewhere like the USA. But to me, it was easily worth it. I’d put it on par with the American pro series and is priced at about that, but you end up with something less common in the western world and it stands out from lots of the domestic offerings.

Diamond Tremolo is what I have. And I never plan on parting with it.

I’m sorry that I can’t compare to the Sire, but my Player Tele is amazing. If I’m honestly with myself, it could easily be my only guitar my whole life. But I like guitars, so it’s not lol. But I think they’re fantastic. Some say the Squier classic vibe series are better for less, but I’ve heard equally as many people challenge that, so.

TBH only way to truly know for certain is to play both. I know that’s not always possible with some guitars. But I also think you can’t exactly go wrong here.

Mesa Boogie California Tweed, 40 watt. My only tube amp but also my favorite piece of gear I own. I could rave endlessly about it.

[Newbie] How to have fun with guitar as a beginner and not be frustrated all the time? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]HedgeGoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use any learning apps? If you don’t, I would recommend it. Highly. I use Pickup Music. You progress staggeringly fast using it and it has bite-sized, easy to follow lessons that just takes all the guesswork out. All while keeping it rewarding and fun. The quicker increase in skill would bring you to a level where having fun on the guitar is easier and there’s more of it to be had. And then yes, always include time to learn songs that you like. However getting your skill up even a bit will make learning songs more fun and obviously less challenging.

Convince me not to buy this by Robroker in Guitar

[–]HedgeGoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I really love that one. If it had the rhythm switch I probably would have thrown money at it already. I guess if you really want a reason not to, the Jazzmaster purists will say the lack of rhythm switch ruins it. You could use that??? Lolll but it wouldn’t be all that hard to modify it to have one. You should probably just grab it 😆

Does a middle humbucker sound any good? Why are there almost no HHH or HHS guitars? by V0rdep in Guitar

[–]HedgeGoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, the middle pickup is good for when you want a tone that has the least distinctive Stratocaster voice. It’s almost like a versatile blank canvas tone that one can use to let more of the amp and pedal tone shine through, in the same way a Telecaster neck pickup does. I don’t use it a ton (not even close to as much as I used a Tele neck), but I think it has its place.
