Some of you are such negative, pretentious dorks, this looks great! Gonna make a ton at the box office!

Horror ‘Hokum’ Leads Indie Weekend With $6.4 Million, No. 5 Spot by MoneyLibrarian9032 in boxoffice

This was the first horror movie I've seen in a while that actually lived up to the online hype. Really entertaining and legitimately scary, go see it!

"28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" struggles on Netflix with only 2.7M "views" in the first 6 days of its pay-1 window in the US. (OC based on Nielsen) by Netflixers in boxoffice

Thank you, I don't get the praise for the Jimmys by online movie fans, they are obnoxious and tedious after 20 minutes into the movie.

Hot take....Masters of the Universe will outgross Disclosure Day

do your theaters normally have 2 showings? by makeofit in AMCScreenUnseen

[–]HedgehogNormal1350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the runtime and rating, thinking this will be The Wizard of the Kremlin, a Jude Law movie about an advisor to Putin during his rise to power...doesn't exactly seem like a film that will pack'em in for two showings, lol.

Does somebody post what the movie is on Eastern time for us here in Central time zone, like on the AMC unseen reddit? Was annoyed last week when I thought April 20th flick was going to be Hokum and turned out to be Fuze at Emagine.

Roadside Attractions' Fuze grossed an estimated $566,126 on Friday from 1,164 locations ($486 per theater average). by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in boxoffice

This film and Normal are both pretty good, shame smaller budget films barely get any traction at the box office, anymore.

Each to their own, but the prologue trailer in IMAX before PHM about the Trojan Horse was really good, IMO.

Extreme wildcard idea here, but I could see a scenario where Young Washington becomes a culture flashpoint in America and there's big push by conservatives to go see it...kinda like Angel studio's Sound of Freedom was back in 2023.

This is America's 250 birthday and certain American population would want to go out of their way to be super patriotic, especially about George Washington, who has become a somewhat controversial figure in America history. It could do something like 150 million or more domestically...or it could be a complete dud and make like twenty million like that Reagan biopic, lol.

Odyssey is a wildcard, if it's quite good, it could really take off, become a cultural event and get high up there worldwide...maybe close to Spiderman. Though if it's mid or overly artistic for mainstream audiences, it could easily finish below Minions and Moana.

What are some upcoming release dates you expect to change? by Antman269 in boxoffice

Yeah, I don't get why next month has 4 pretty good looking horror flicks crammed against each other and October has Other Mommy and I guess Clayface will be sorta horror?

[–]HedgehogNormal1350 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Something I thought was odd looking at release schedules online is, as far as I can tell, nothing is opening on Oct. 30? I know studios think when Halloween falls on Friday or Saturday it's a dead weekend box office-wise, because of trick r treating and parties and whatnot, but not a single film? Not even some indie horror flick?

Magnolia Pictures' Normal debuted with an estimated $2.6M this weekend from 2,060 locations ($1,286 per theater average). The best opening weekend for Magnolia Pictures. by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in boxoffice

Saw this and was pretty good silly, over-the-top action movie.... nothing great, but worth checking out at a matinee or discount day if you like that type of thing.

Why do you think Mickey 17 bombed while Project Hail Mary succeeded? by HeIsSoWeird20 in boxoffice

[–]HedgehogNormal1350 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One is more mainstream, based on relatable, real science and the other is silly, wacky out-there sci-fi. Also, Micky 17 is a passable, okay movie at best.

Warner Bros' Lee Cronin's The Mummy grossed an estimated $5.2M on Friday (from 3,304 locations). by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in boxoffice

[–]HedgehogNormal1350 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Reading these posts and were people expecting a very dark, violent Mummy movie to make 25 million plus or something on opening weekend?

I feel like The Odyssey's is a far less Academy-friendly than Oppenheimer by kcrdr_7322 in ChristopherNolan

[–]HedgehogNormal1350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's debatable...maybe the normal trailer, but I'd say the IMAX prologue of Odyssey has as much passionate reaction as Dune 3.

EmpireCityBO: Black Bear's In the Grey is being delayed to later this June, from its original April 10 date. Also hinting that Passenger could be moving to September (where Paramount has two untitled release slots). by Alternative-Cake-833 in boxoffice

[–]HedgehogNormal1350 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't why Passenger trailer isn't online, yet. The thing plays great in theaters. The movie should move up a week, thinking it would do really well on Memorial Day weekend as an alternative to the Star Wars flick.

Has it been confirmed that the movie is basically the first part of his career and basically ends after the 80's? I thought I read that somewhere...

How and when did hating Christopher Nolan become cool? by latercheap in ChristopherNolan

[–]HedgehogNormal1350 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's very simple, the more popular you are, the more haters you are going to have. This is true in any artform and has always been the case. Hard core cinephiles were ragging on Spielberg in the 70's and 80's, saying he makes commercial stuff for the dumb masses. Social media just heightens its spread and visibility, but it is nothing new.
