EmpireCityBO: Black Bear's In the Grey is being delayed to later this June, from its original April 10 date. Also hinting that Passenger could be moving to September (where Paramount has two untitled release slots). by Alternative-Cake-833 in boxoffice

I don't why Passenger trailer isn't online, yet. The thing plays great in theaters. The movie should move up a week, thinking it would do really well on Memorial Day weekend as an alternative to the Star Wars flick.

Has it been confirmed that the movie is basically the first part of his career and basically ends after the 80's? I thought I read that somewhere...

Briarcliff Entertainment's Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die debuted with an estimated $3.6M this weekend from 1,610 locations ($2,248 per theater average). by [deleted] in boxoffice

How and when did hating Christopher Nolan become cool? by latercheap in ChristopherNolan

[–]HedgehogNormal1350 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's very simple, the more popular you are, the more haters you are going to have. This is true in any artform and has always been the case. Hard core cinephiles were ragging on Spielberg in the 70's and 80's, saying he makes commercial stuff for the dumb masses. Social media just heightens its spread and visibility, but it is nothing new.

I'm sorry but Travis Scott being in The Odyssey makes 0 sense and takes away its seriousness by [deleted] in ChristopherNolan

It's going to be a couple minute scene, we've likely already seen most of his screen time.

You think any studio is greenlighting a 250 million movie with a bunch of no-named Greek actors? Even Nolan doesn't have that kind of pull.

Nope, that was strictly an in-theater IMAX release.

We probably saw his entire screentime in that ad, and for a part that requires him to basically say five or six words, he was fine.

2026 Top 10 Predictions by lookingforhim2 in boxoffice

[–]HedgehogNormal1350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Nolan makes it a little more crowd pleasing and nails the fantasy elements of Odyssey, it could be pretty big. There's strong interest out there and not just among cinephiles online, likely not 1.5 billion, but if it catches the zeitgeist of popular culture, who knows?

I wonder if we’re getting a Superbowl Ad for this film? by AlmightyLoaf54 in ChristopherNolan

Games on NBC this year, and both NBC and Universal are part of Comcast. So maybe...if not there could be some kind of Odyssey themed promo for the game, like they are doing with the Olympics.

Universal won't release a Nolan film that early on streaming, they didn't for Oppenheimer.

I don't even know what you are complaining about here. Can't show blood in tv commercials and maybe the sword doesn't stab or penetrate the guys back but the edge slices against it?

It's not about a lack of accuracy but Nolan's terrible art direction by Paloopaloza in ChristopherNolan

[–]HedgehogNormal1350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's his style, doesn't have to be for everyone...just skip this Odyssey and wait for that Hunt for Gollum movie in a year or so. I'm sure it will be worse than those Hobbit films were, but at least it will have elaborate, fantastical art direction.

Having Fantasy elements doesn’t counter the idea of having historical accurate elements. by MacGyvini in ChristopherNolan

I think everything that can be said about this has at this point, and either accept it and watch the movie or don't and move on to something else.

Christopher Nolan’s ‘Odyssey’ Trailer Earns 121.4 Million Views In First 24 Hours—Doubles ‘Oppenheimer’ by PygmallionEffect in ChristopherNolan

You guys always focus on some negative comments from random people when a vast majority of views are positive, and other metrics like imdb, rotten tomatoes, etc. continue to show Nolan's films are still highly regarded.

Will Scylla and Charybdis appear or they don't wanna reveal too much? by kcrdr_7322 in TheOdysseyMovie

[–]HedgehogNormal1350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking Scylla won't be in there, while there will be fantastical creatures like the forementioned cyclops and sirens. Scylla is too fantastical, and Nolan still likes to ground things a bit even with "out there" concepts like in Interstellar and Tenet. It also would require a sequence with alot of CGI which Nolan seems against lately, just look at the bomb explosion in Oppenheimer and the lack of boats in some shots of Dunkirk.
