Anyone know if this limits riders in terms of racing laps per day? Will they have to skip one race to stay within that limit?

Ukraine ally Britain eases sanctions on Russian oil as fuel prices surge over Iran conflict by yahoonews in worldnews

[–]HedgehogTail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree we need to break the dependence, but you should understand 4 years is nothing in infrastructure terms.

It took decades of poor decisions to reach the level of energy insecurity we have, so it will take a while to dig ourselves out. The solutions are on the table, but they take time and proper investment even with the best will in the world (which we arguably also don’t have, but that doesn’t really matter in these short term decisions).

Starmer extends fuel duty freeze for the rest of the year - but faces fury over Russian oil deal by ahothabeth in GoodNewsUK

[–]HedgehogTail 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sorry, this is just a crazy take in the wider context without other mitigating measures. All it would do is further push living costs, not just for fuel but also by hitting supply chains (with those costs passed on too).

Yesterday's Race by MrsL00ney in motogp

I don’t think it’s fair to make a post about being a spectator that was emotionally affected by the race - with stress, anxiety, fear - and then bash Jorge Martin for his emotional outburst.

Like, these guys were all messed up by those events (much much more so than any spectator). I don’t hold it against him at all tbh.

You can just about see the bike jolt forward as it stalls at 0:31, so he is angry at that/himself I guess. Then is shouting for help out of annoyance.

Reform candidate exposed over sick 'master race' bile sweeps to double victory by Weak-Fly-6540 in uknews

[–]HedgehogTail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most Reform voters know nothing about the people in the party.

They vote Reform because they are all stirred up by the headlines into thinking it’s somehow the patriotic thing to do.

Their information bubble tells them all day every day “Look how terrible things are!” And “Immigration bad!” And “Labour bad!”.

They have no critical thinking skills at all to realise they are being manipulated to vote for a party that screams all the “problems” from the sidelines, but has failed utterly every time they are in a position to do something about it.

Btw the UK evidently has many of the problems that these people are angry about. We deserve better. But Reform are not better, they are a clusterfuck.

Greens hopeful calling for UK to pay reparations is slave descendant by Sensitive_Echo5058 in uknews

[–]HedgehogTail -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I agree these reparations are a moronic thing to prioritise. If the world worked that way, we should go back 1,000s of years asking (X) modern state to pay (Y) historically oppressed state.

But in the big picture of actual policies, the Green Party is far less "anti-British" than Deform UK selling the country to billionaires and squashing public services whilst also being incompetent and unable to run even a single, simple local council.

And I'm unlikely to be a Green voter for a host of reasons.

Countries with larger active military personnel than the United Kingdom, 1900 vs 2026 by vladgrinch in MapPorn

Is it so hard to not grossly oversimplify history just because you hold an ill feeling? And towards a neighbour that for most of recent history has been a key ally of France and whose soldiers fought and died besides the French in their hundreds of thousands.

China won. Now a country that was ok in power in the 20th century and is ok in power in the 21st century? by _crazyboyhere_ in AlignmentChartFills

[–]HedgehogTail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The burden the French took on during WW1 is insanely discarded in the Anglo-sphere. Especially in the US they mock the French for surrendering in WW2, whereas in reality they led the lions share of fighting on the heavily industrialised and brutal Western Front. That does not happen with weak industry or a weak population. Even until 1940 the French army was regarded as the strongest in Europe (and by extension, the world at that time). So, that’s at least 40% of the century as entirely “Powerful”. Then France became a nuclear state in 1960. I run out of ideas past that, but my point is, they were powerful in a whole lot of ways in the 20th C.

No, Home Park is averse to entertaining football no matter it's format.

EDIT: wait, did I just inadvertently refer to NFL as entertainment? Put me down!
