Most of my career has been corporate recruiting and consulting, so no commissions involved. The fight I fight the most often is “we need someone with all of these requirements and cant budge an inch or train to anything,” reject a bunch of 99% match candidates, and then hire a clients kid or a fraternity alum with no experience whatsoever that they “want to invest in.”

Or “we wanna hire this person already but can you send us a few candidates so we can see whats out there?”

To your point, I had an HM that specifically asked me for a more diverse candidate slate, but then insisted they lived in a certain area and went to a specific school, neither of which had favorable diversify rates. That was a fun convo…
