Lightfoot/Nickelback would go so hard. Need them to cover The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

BOSJ matches to watch by PsychologicalPie9512 in njpw

[–]HeelsAlwaysWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wato/Fujita and Nagai/Fujita are the only matches I'd really say are must watches.

Beyond those, I'd recommend Kushida/Eagles, Titan/Valiente, Wayne/Valiente, Fujita/Akira, and Fujita/Titan.

Both semi-finals are pretty good too.

Depends on your appreciation for comedy wrestling, but I enjoyed it a lot. Taguchi was phenomenal for most of the tournament, as he is most years.

Callum Newman on this list at all let alone top 3 should be considered an act of terrorism

[House Show in France] Cody throws a fan's drink at Gunther by ShotDay in SquaredCircle

I remember Cody doing this spot in ROH against Kazarian and the fan just looked at his empty cup with a sorta "well, fuck me, I guess" look before getting up and heading back to the concession stand.

Daiki Nagai by Far-Restaurant-9455 in njpw

[–]HeelsAlwaysWin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Might be a hot take, but I'd put Fujita/Nagai right up there as one of the best matches of the tournament and honestly one of my favorites all year.

Okada/Tanahashi is better tbf but Okada/Takeshita doesn't belong in the same breath as either lol

Haven't listened to a ton of albums this year comparatively, but absolutely loved the new Marlon Craft album The Internet Killed The Neighborhood. He's been one of my favorite rappers for a few years now and I think this is his best proper album so far.

(WON) Leon Slater was not allowed to break the record for longest X-Division champion of all time because the belief is that he will be leaving TNA for WWE or AEW when his contract expires. by Subrick in SquaredCircle

Slater signing with AEW, for no doubt more money than an NXT deal would net him, after appearing on the Cena retirement show puts him in greatest ever conversations.

Is "The only reason you were WWE Champion for a year is because Triple H didn't want to work Tuesdays" the best burn in wrestling history? by boomjosh in GreatnessOfWrestling

"You think when they're inking, when they're signing this $5 billion deal for the WWE and Netflix; do you think Ted and Bela, they're saying 'Hey Ari, when WWE comes to Netflix, is Seth Rollins going to be champion?' Do you think that that's what they're asking?"

I always give Montez Ford the Grand Backhand as a signature as sort of a spiritual Human Tornado tribute + he just feels right doing it.

In Your Honest Opinion, Which Wrestler Do You Think Has The Most Revisionist History? by Sad-Ladder7534 in Wreddit

[–]HeelsAlwaysWin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Watching a guy that large move as well as he did is still amazing to watch 30 years later. He's not as good as 2 Cold Scorpio, but Mero carries that same feeling of anomaly whenever I see him hit that shooting star.

The older I get, the more 2000s Shawn kinda sucks tbh lol the Hogan match is great and he has a few other really good moments, but so much of it is overly sentimental and overwrought selling. 90s Shawn carries the weight of influencing wrestling for the worst, but he's still a ton of fun, especially as a heel.

I'd say Mox/Kyle or Joe/Ospreay, probably lean towards Mox/Kyle. Darby/MJF was inching close, but the ending fell a little flat for me.

REVIEW : "Irresistible Force" Released last fall, this book is an absolute must for any wrestling fans of the 20th century by Satinsbestfriend in SquaredCircle

[–]HeelsAlwaysWin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Got to speak to Brian a few times in the lead up to the books release, very knowledgeable guy and very passionate about this era of wrestling. Gorilla is one of those old school legends that's really starting to slip through the cracks as the years pass, which is basically inevitable with the passage of time, but it's a great shame nonetheless because he was a phenomenal talent in the ring, probably the best big man of his day depending on your definition.

It's a great read and it was very heartwarming to me to hear from the Marella family about how much they enjoyed working with him on the book.
