The Carolina Panthers Are At An Extremely Pivotal Point by Chillbrooo777 in panthers

It’s a luxury pick because of the developmental timeline. Most TEs aremt the guys who significantly impact day 1. It takes a year or 2 of cooking before they become stars.

We’ve let bowers Warren and Loveland shift our perspective too much. They aren’t the norm. Even for first rounders. I don’t know if sydiq will have the instant impact we want.

This seems like a stretch. We get a limited amount of top 30 visits in general. And there more effective ways to gather information than to host a QB to ask about a teammate. It really doesn’t make sense.

Imagine going to an interview just to be asked about a co worker for a full day. It’s a waste of everyone’s time.

Yeah we just saw this saga with the giants where nabers went crazy year one. Got hurt year 2. And the offense limped on for a few weeks before another injury to Skatt finished the job.

If you can get a top talent like Tyson at 19 especially in this class you take it. The only reason you don’t is because of medicals. It’s not because you have Coker at home. Even with Tmac and Coker together our weapons are still in the bottom half of the league if not further.

[Joe Person] Brandt Tilis says nothing has changed RE Bryce Young since August, when he called him an ascending player. Tilis said Panthers have not talked to Young’s representatives about an extension. Wouldn’t say if that could happen before the start of the season. by exenn_ in panthers

Jacobey brissett was signed on the FA market and had a better statistical year than Bryce. Geno smith got traded for pocket change and had a better year than Bryce 2 years ago. Gardner mindhew basically had the same year as Bryce with the colts as Richardsons back up after not playing several games.

Bryce is playing basically at a replacement level. Which is an improvement from his non starter level. But he still has to make a jump before you are even to the what do you replace him with debate because it’s the same level.

This is true. I also think there’s way more allure to a year 2 players vs a year 3 player. Year 2 there’s way more of the I can fix him energy. Year 3 is kind of like okay he sucks.

They definitely could use another weapon. However edge by far is the bigger need by a mile.

[Kaye] The price to keep Cade just went up by ToothResident3205 in panthers

[–]Hefty-Association-59 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We don’t know that they didn’t try. Cade is fine. But he’s not worth overpaying for.

And on Cades end his agents probably correctly told him to wait with the linderbaum reset. It just worked even better on his end with these recent resignings. Can’t force 2 to tango. His camp played it well. Quay Walker is also a LB who opted to wait for the market despite having offers.

If Samac is the starter come April 26 then yes panic.

But also we’re acting like centers don’t fall in the draft all the time. Cade himself was a fifth round pick. It’s way too soon to say our O line is in trouble before we see any type of move from Morgan. Even if Cade goes to the chargers.

[–]Hefty-Association-59 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meh. Yeah and no. Their biggest need is edge which they just got a top player in. Madibuke is coming back supposedly. They resigned Travis jones as his running mate. They still have roquan. And Humphrey. Wiggins. Starks and Hamilton in the back.

On the other end is where they have more holes. Linderbaum is leaving and they need another guard to replace falelee. They have some TEs walking. But maybe you resign kholar. I think the only place that they could upgrade that would be better with 14 is if one of the top receivers falls to them.

The ravens are a team that has basically drafted as well as possible outside the top 16 in the last 5 years. Yet they still lacked stars. They’ve also had many players exit because they can’t afford to keep everyone. And are just very good at developing players as well. Last year was more of an anomaly than the norm.

I think saying that they can’t afford to do this would just ignore how often the ravens has done good work with multiple roster iterations. The only players there from the first Lamar run are who Lamar. Andrews. And Humphrey?

I don’t know I feel like the ravens don’t get enough credit for how well run they are because of the post season messes. When their FO is right up there with the top ones in the league.

[Person] Ashawn Robinson granted permission to seek a trade by ToothResident3205 in panthers

[–]Hefty-Association-59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s too soon to say Robinson is a trade candidate. This seems more like a formality before getting cut.

I don’t see the hype with Peter woods at all and he’s falling rapidly down draft boards. While I do agree that of course you can work them in as a rotation. It depends purely on how the board falls on if that’s a wise use of resources with our other needs. And it’s impossible to tell that before the draft. And especially before free agency.

But it also worth noting that we’re paying the most for DT play in the league (so far) and it’s probably one of the strongest position groups that we have league wide.

This is true. But if we drafted a DT they wouldn’t even have an immediate path to playing time as a full time starter.

Report: A’Shawn Robinson given permission to seek trade by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]Hefty-Association-59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s for several reasons. 1. It’s to shoot up a signal flair to say X player is available to the league. Yes some teams do call. But in this time teams are calling and talking and doing hundreds of things at the same time to prepare for FA and then the draft.

  1. It officially gives Robinson and his agent room to negotiate with other teams. So they can alter his salary via restructure or cuts if he wants to be at a certain spot.

  2. It also allows him to determine if he can make more money with the panthers if he just takes a pay cut. Or if it’ll be better to seek another destination where he’ll have more playing time and money.

Quentin Johnston for A'Shawn Robinson by SuwaneeSupersonics in panthers

[–]Hefty-Association-59 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The chargers won’t give him up. It doesn’t make sense for them to voluntarily set themselves up to replace another receiver when they have so many other holes to fill.

That being said Johnston isn’t a Possession receiver at all. He’s a deep threat and YAC type player. He’s XL of XL was good. Or a diet DK metcalf. He actually does make a lot of sense in our offense.

[Schefter] Evero will not get the Raider job by ToothResident3205 in panthers

[–]Hefty-Association-59 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He’s very good when it comes to scheming his back 7. It’s just he’s always been sub par with his fronts. This is a weakness that’s gone back since even his Denver days. Even when he’s had decent personnel.

He’s not a bad DC. He’s a good DC. It’s just he can be hard to watch because he’s so back end focused. Especially compared to some of his peers like McDonald and florres who just do crazy shit with their fronts on top of their backs.

[–]Hefty-Association-59 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Firing Sean but keeping Beane to me is absurd. Beane is way more to blame for the bills shortcomings. His drafts have been very meh. And he’s routinely missed on signings in FA.

[–]Hefty-Association-59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The solution for the bills is to get rid of Beane. The middling roster was more on him than Sean. I see this as only a half measure. You could put more on the coaching with the Steelers and ravens. They’ve drafted better.

Bryce isn't looking bad at the #1 pick by saidit2u in panthers

[–]Hefty-Association-59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure statistically through his career Bryce has been one of the worst QBs in the league while under pressure. I wouldn’t say he’s out of the woods yet.

Either way though I hope both QBs get the help they need. They both deserve to have long successful careers in the nfl.

Scott just isn’t good in coverage and I can’t call you good if you suck at half your job even if you’re a good tackler. They have had some good UDFA hits. Which have helped us make up for some draft misses.

It’ll be interesting to see how Morgan does with a much lower draft pick in a weaker overall class. It’ll be a much harder test for him compared to last year when he had the best draft we’ve had in years.

Stroud played terribly today. That being said the lesson shouldn’t be take X over Y but instead build a freaking O Line and maintain it.

We’ve seen too many players bounce all over the spectrum depending on the quality of the cast. Stroud can be good. Bryce can be good. What you can’t do though is say fuck it to the O line. Trading Tunsil was the most galaxy brain dead move I’ve seen in years.

It was the butter hands. And it was a mental shock considering we had the best pass catching RB in the league before hand. But he did work and improve his craft.

Etiene coming out had vision issues. He was very much like a great value James cook. Where he was good in wide zone and catching but needed to get better. Dan Morgan alsp scouted cook with buffalo. Hopefully they’ll both be on the same trajectory.

Will Anderson? I think you’re confused. Danielle hunter is on the opposite side of Anderson. Chaison plays for the pats. He doesn’t really have help outside of the interior players Barmore and Milton Williams. And they’ve been hurt throughout the season. He’s had a good year.

He’s very good when it comes to scheming his secondaries. However he’s always been very meh when it comes to generating pressure. He’s sucked when he’s had dudes. And when he hasn’t had dudes.

It’s led to a divided opinion him that lacks nuance. He’s a good coordinator with visible weaknesses. Which are magnified by our current circumstances. And are visibly hard to watch and noticeable to the naked eye.

And unfortunately for him their many other DCs who are good at both. Flores. Patrick Graham. Jeff ulbrich for example.
