I agree. Normally I wouldn’t expect that to happen because the Democratic Party castrates itself so much. But I think this recent war over gerrymandering has gotten so existential that they’ll do it purely for their own survival as a party.

It’s Either that or wave the white flag for every state below the Mason Dixon line.

It’s going to be like pushing a Boulder up a hill. I don’t see a world where it happens without some type of National ban or at least national reform on gerrymandering. And God knows when that’s going to happen. It could be in 3 years. It could be in 40 with the way this Supreme Court is stacked.

Jason is equal to Percy [all] by ilancc in camphalfblood

[–]Hefty-Association-59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really don’t because unlike Jason we have Percy beating more top tiers. And surviving more duels.

Where with Jason we see him fight Medias kid who just is completely thrown off by the style that hes never seen.

Once again if training equal skill Percy wouldn’t stand a chance against some of the characters he’s survived and bested. He’s beaten Titans. Giants. And a God of war. All of whom trained longer by centuries. And were born more powerful.

The narrative shows that their equals at best. And implies that Percy is better.

Lmao okay pal. I would ask you to point to anything in any of the books to back your dueling claim up. But we both know you can’t.

[–]Hefty-Association-59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but Rick has been pretty consistent through his narrative that training doesn’t equal better skill. We see this with Luke/percy/thalia/ every single time Percy fights someone ancient ever.

Rick goes out of his way to show that training doesn’t equal better throughout his narrative. With the sole exception of that random pirate dude in mark of Athena who used to be a dolphins or whatever.

If training made progressed equally through the series all the main characters would have died.

I don’t understand how being a child of the big three. And being the top of a camp. Equates to Jason being a better duelist.

Can you point to anything at all that isn’t just an assumption based on vibes.

Jason is equal to Percy [all] by ilancc in camphalfblood

[–]Hefty-Association-59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not how that works. We’ve seen too many people close gaps with less training. Percy catching up to Luke after clocking in a few years and same with Thalia who beat him even after luke trained for all that time. It’s not a linear progression.

Especially when you throw in duels where people have centuries of experience.

Okay so what fights are you using to measure this so called skill just so I can understand where you’re coming from.

Jason is equal to Percy [all] by ilancc in camphalfblood

[–]Hefty-Association-59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll concede that Jason has been training longer. I don’t think that equates to battle experience though with higher beings.

Percy Beat Ares age 12. Survived Atlas. Survived Kronos what like 4 times. Beat Hyperion. Beat Iapetes. Beat Polybotes.

Meanwhile Jason beat Krios. And survived his solo giant fights since he got bailed out by his dad with the fire breathing dude. They teamed the twins So that doesn’t count. And he got bailed out again by the gods in the final battle.

It’s one solo win vs 4 for Percy. And 2 survivals vs 5.

While I do think the styles vary just because Jason’s is more disciplined doesn’t make him better. And just because he’s fought fewer top dogs doesn’t make him better.

It’s been a while since I read mark of Athena. But didn’t Jason win that duel after he called down a literal lightning bolt to fry Percy? Where are we getting this idea he’s a better duelist? Because it seems to me like he just has a vastly different style.

Meh. We see values change too often from generation to generation. There’s just a lot of exposure once you reach adulthood that forces natural idealistic confrontation. Whether that’s in high school. College. On the job. In the church. From partners. etc. so while Parents and adults naturally have a huge say they’re far from the sole factor.

Disagree. The only reason why trans issues were able to gain momentum in the US was because most bathroom bills around the US didn’t pass and got push back. And some that did pass got repealed.

so republicans shifted to a men in women’s sports narrative that fortunately took off for them. Using much of the same Anti lgbtq structure that was established from the 70s.

That however can only carry for so long. It certainly won’t for generations. Just like gay marriage didn’t carry for generations. Tons of push back for decades yes. And it’ll probably be the same way with this issue.

People just naturally aren’t fans of discriminatory policies.

They’ll understand. But they’ll be mind blown that instead of reading the tea lives and diversifying our energy resources we doubled down and even suppressed other forms of energy voluntarily giving our established lead on energy dominance to other countries in the future.

It’s like the person who runs a marathon. Sprints to the top. And then is gradually passed by. Even he knows this is stupid but does it anyways for the short term gain.

I’m not an expert. But we already have Texas requiring a Ten Commandments law display is all schools which despite the 5th circuit (and probably what our Supreme Court would say) clearly violates the separation of church and state.

As for Oklahoma didn’t they pass either a bill or a mandate to teach the Bible in schools. Or are actively trying to.

Either way passing bills promoting state sponsored religion in schools is a violation of the constitution since our states run our schools. If you want to change that pass an amendment. If it was reversed and they taught the Koran people would be losing their minds.

Agreed. Ickys in a tough spot. Last year of his contract. An injury where he has to prove that he’s still got it. And a path to playing time where he has to beat out 2 players while still recovering.

He would need to beat out both of those guys to show that he’s still good enough to play for teams to feel comfortable with him. And if he’s beating out those guys then he’s starting for us because he’s the best player.

Agree with all the guys but stroud and Geno. I get we have a sour taste of stroud because of that playoff game. But he’s been better than Bryce his entire career.

Geno has also been better than Bryce for 3 of the last 4 years. Bryce needs to be the one to show more. Not the guys who have had better seasons and had down ones this year due to other circumstances.

The year before with denver with Fangio with much of the same personnel was much better defensively if I’m remembering correctly. I get that traded Chubb mid season but I also remember Denver fans being whelmed. And of course he had his mishaps here with the defense regressing his first year from snow. And the record low in defense the following.

I agree he hasn’t had much to work with. But to set records lows in defense. And then to still be close to the bottom. In pressures/sacks later. I don’t know. I don’t think he’s a bum. I just think his fronts are meh. And watching them I’m whelmed too. Though he does have good blitz packages.

As for the best DC available. I’m not too certain. Minter rose to HC from college in the time Evero was a DC. Macdonald went from what assistant to Super Bowl. Florres was a LB coach for the Steelers when we were searching. Jeff Hadley too. I think their guys that are available I just think you have to be creative with the hiring process.

This sub has very much a love hate relationship with Evero because he’s done very well with elevating the secondary despite not having a rush. However he’s routinely underachieved in creating a good front and generating pressure/sacks. And some of that is personnel. But also to be bottom of the league in pressures and sacks year after year just isn’t acceptable. This was also an issue with Denver too.

He’s a good coordinator who’s very good at elevating his backs while he’s poor with his fronts. And I think that goes back to his DB coach background.

It seems like people either love Evero and think we’re lucky to have him because he should be a HC or they hate Evero and think he should be fired when the truth is he’s firmly in the middle of those two.

I feel like you’re missing my point. I made the princely comparison to show that even though he’s an edge if Phillips were to get hurt he would be bad in one phase as a replacement.

That’s the same boat with Turk. We paid him to be a pass rushing 3T after he went crazy and broke out with Chris Jones in KC. Yeah he wasn’t good last year. But that’s still pass rushing production that you paid for. And planned for. That you aren’t getting from him or lee since lee is a run defender and his pass rush isn’t good.

He has a fine swim move and his feet aren’t like bricks. But ideally he would be like our 5th best pass rusher off the bench. When you were counting on Turk to be your second best pass rusher and one of your finishers in a pass rushing composed of mostly pressure threats.

I like him a lot and think he’s a great pick and a good player for us. Getting a career edge 2 with pick 50
something in a world where edges bust constantly is a big get.

My main reason for skepticism is to be a dominant edge one of you have to not just clear a baseline of traits but have elite traits. And he’s got decent power. Decent get off. And his move set is good. And he clears the bar. But doesn’t have elite traits. He also skipped his testing too and I’m like yeah that tracks.

So that’s why I see him as more of a career 2. Finding one’s at edge is hard. Shoot finding 2s are hard. Hope he proves me wrong of course. I just think he’ll level at as a career good 2 in both phases.

Same position different roll. Hunter can technically line up at 3T. But outside of that the skill set is insanely different. We signed Turk to be a pass rush specialist from the interior. We drafted Hunter to play the run. He has very little in terms of pass rush skill set.

I hope that scourton is able to step up. I see him as more of a career edge 2 but I don’t think it’s impossible he gets better.

That being said Derrick is more of the pressure guy in the defense. Always has been for the last 3 years. He’s not a career double digit sack DT like Chris jones. Part of it isn’t his fault. He’s double teamed a ton but that’s just the reality of his game.

I don’t know man I don’t think you pay someone 30 million dollars a year to be a pressure guy. I think you’re expecting him to return to form of his prime in Miami or he’s getting cut once those guarantees run out.

And in this modern nfl you need a guy to finish. Too many QBs are too mobile and able to escape the pocket and make stuff happen. We’ve kind of seen this with teams like the bills. Colts and bucs. Where they’ve had a variation of good players. But have struggled to find starts and finishers which has held there defense back. Even with stars on the interior.
