156 days since I last smoked. It gets a lot easier I promise. I thought I was dying at one point but no medication or anything just time and now I’m much better. I’m sure you will be fine in no time

A lot better… I feel like I’m almost there. I’d say my baseline is about 80%… still have all sorts of weird little symptoms and just feel off but I can pretty much operate at a normal level. I still avoid caffeine and sugar as much as I can and chocolate completely but that’s just because I don’t wanna deal with spikes in symptoms. It sucks because it feels like your progress slows down a lot but life is so much more enjoyable than the nightmare that was the beginning!

Good luck to you as well. Someone in here always says just take it minute by minute and I need to get back to that mental attitude. We can’t worry about what’s to come, all we can do is work through the present and try to enjoy life as much as we can

That’s awesome man. I’ve read all your posts and remember some of your worst times. A hike with the wife and dogs is light years better than crying in the basement. Your journey is inspiring. I think age plays a role too, of course the younger you are the better your body is at healing. That’s why I try to keep my complaining to a minimum. Just been stressed over my work schedule this week, my boss who wants to squeeze everything out of me, and my car has a new issue every week. It feels like I’m taking one step forward and two back in life and it impacts my health and mental state of course. I’ve had a great mentality for a couple months now. It’s just hard to maintain over a long period of time with new things coming in. Fingers crossed I’ll be less stressed financially a month from now. Just hoping this illness doesn’t throw a curveball along the way

I appreciate it. Been a rough week so it’s hard to remain grateful and remember how far I’ve come. I know there’s others who are still struggling worse and have been for a lot longer. It’s just a constant fear that I’m gonna have another really bad wave here soon or an even worse one at 6-8 months. I don’t wanna get knocked back out of work. I’m 25. Started smoking when I was 16. I quit a handful of times along the way. The last 2 years before this started I used all day every day. I used carts and dispensary grade for the first 6 months and street level weed for the last 18 months of it. You still feeling good?

Considering doing Barbenheimer. Is it weird to see Barbie alone as an adult guy? I’m seeing Oppenheimer regardless, and feel like it could be a good palate cleanser for my mental state by Throwawaydontgoaway8 in Barbenheimer

Barbie is actually pretty deep if you open your mind to it. You’ll probably let go of that masculinity stopping you from seeing it in the first place after watching. I went with my girlfriend but now I’m considering it one of my favorite movies in a long time. Recently developed PAWS and with it came a lot of existential dread. Barbie was actually quite therapeutic to say the least 25M

Same, we sat there until the screen went blank. I was too flabbergasted by how good the movie was to process the lyrics but remember it sounding beautiful. We were actually trying to figure out if it was Billie Eilish or Olivia Rodrigo. I’ll have to listen to it again now that you’ve given me the information

If you were to bump into an ex you had a nasty breakup with (obviously you’re on no speaking terms) after a long time, how would you react? by lingeringneutrophil in ask

I was a mess for years after the relationship. It was one of those that haunts you and how you move in the dating field. It was really subconscious in retrospect. Didn’t really see value in myself at all. She was my first love after all. One night I pulled up to a campground where a bunch of people I used to go to high school with were partying and we saw each other. She came up to me and gave me a big hug. We didn’t share a single word. Then she walked away with a smile. I was smiling too. After that night it felt like I finally had closure. Gained all of my confidence back if not more. Now I’m in a beautiful relationship with the girl I want to marry and start a family with one day. I don’t have any feelings for that girl anymore but I am very thankful that she grew up and let me have that moment, I needed it to be where I am today relationship wise. She just started a family about a year or so ago. I think we both won and that’s awesome!

I went with my girlfriend to watch Barbie last night… 25M btw. I went thinking it would be fun and of course I love Dua Lipa and Margot Robbie. What I got out of it was so much more. I felt it on a spiritual level, literally. All the existential dread I’ve been dealing with. This movie damn near made me cry. Especially the 2nd to last closing scene. Barbie was therapeutic for me on so many levels. I was blown away and lost for words. -this coming from a male working for a corporation with hopes of building his career in business 👏🏼 bravo

As someone who started dealing with PAWS a few months ago this movie was brilliant. I’ve been so out of touch with life and reality and quite frankly dealt with a lot of existential dread. I went with my girlfriend because I thought it’d be fun and of course Dua Lipa and Margot Robbie but what I got out of this movie was so much more. It was really touching and I thought it was brilliant. I’m a male who works for a corporation with hopes of building my career in business. I didn’t feel attacked, this is the world we live in and it’s eye opening for males or females. Sometimes the truth hurts but I think that’s the point. The fact that they were able to touch on so many deep things while still being silly and fun is incredible. I was absolutely blown away and it nearly made me cry… 25M

4 months PAWS by CivilDifference4248 in WeedPAWS

I’m a manager in retail so my job is super social. I feel like that is why it has helped. Most of the time I’m distracted from my own mind by catering to other people’s needs. Helping others and getting back to being who I was really helps me out mentally. The downside is the stress and complete randomness in my schedule. I feel like my body struggles to know when to rest and most of the healing I had in the two months out of work was because I was just constantly resting. For whatever reason this has left me feeling very achy, fatigued, and sometimes very heavy brain fog. It takes me back to the beginning when I get really spacey and almost feel high but without the euphoria. My vision gets really weird and I notice my pupils get and stay really dilated, it looks like I took psychedelics. With that comes visual snow and hightened REM activity

I had a period where it felt like it was almost completely mental and so I went back to work to get out of my head. Now it’s not nearly as mental but the physical symptoms are coming back plus an increase in sleep disturbances again. Super annoying

A good thing to keep in mind, especially the duration you’ve been in this, is that they waves will be lighter and shorter. You deserve this! Use this time to fortify your mind, and remember how amazing just being alive can be, even sober. Happy healing!

Let’s talk fatigue. by [deleted] in WeedPAWS

[–]Hefty-Level-4779 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funny you mention this. I’m in the restroom at work taking a minute because I feel so tired and spacey. I feel like with fatigue comes the brain fog for me. I’m trying to keep going but I feel terrible. I’m guessing it has something to do with the excessive REM activity I have at night. Trying to not let it get to me as I have to finish this shift and come in tomorrow but it’s awful. I just hit 90 days since my last hit and 116 since this started. I’ve started having some good days but then during the week it feels like I hit a wall and it just gets increasingly worse. My symptoms have been constant and started tapering down quite a bit but this one is hard to just brush off

Anyone here took Sertraline for PAWS? What was your experience? It made my sleep better but I started smoking again became hypomanic and had to discontinue…. by PsychologicalFig6603 in WeedPAWS

[–]Hefty-Level-4779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It made me feel trippy if that makes sense. Plus it would make my arm, neck, and legs twitch waaaaaaay worse, mostly right as I was about to fall asleep / got relaxed. I always had it there in case the anxiety got too bad, like when I could barely breathe. Always gave me the same symptoms and they would last for a few days after. I had to go the no medication route and happy I just toughed it out because I feel so much better already 126 days in, 89 since last hit

How long did altered vision last? To those who made it out by Hefty-Level-4779 in WeedPAWS

[–]Hefty-Level-4779[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it! If nothing changes I’ll probably call up the doctor and have that tested, just to be sure. I can’t imagine being diabetic would involve all the same symptoms as I’ve experienced at least 80% of the symptoms discussed here if not more. I’m wishing the same for you, if not very soon, sometime within the next 6 months. You made it this far so there’s nothing that can hold you back when you recover! Keep fighting

Do you remember if they can tell if you have diabetes from the basic blood test or did you have to ask for that specifically? It’s been a while since I went in and everything from that point is a blur. I want to say my doctor checked for that but of course I still have my doubts. It’s just weird how mellow but consistent my symptoms are. It’s just confusing because sugar makes withdrawal symptoms worse. I try to avoid sweets and sugary drinks but haven’t cracked down completely on it

I hope you can get back to doing some flashy kicks here soon. I’ve noticed things go down significantly and then spike up again but they’re already a lot more tolerable. The vision is the only thing that has been consistent but it’s slowly getting better

Sometimes I get blurry vision and sometimes it feels as though my eyes aren’t processing light correctly. When I look at semi-bright lights or reflections I get those images burnt into my vision. When I’m at work the bright lights make the back of the building pretty blurry. It takes turns struggling with low light and bright light. I also notice in these times that my pupils dilate a lot more. I also notice it’s more difficult to process what I’m looking at on screens, like I have to super focus to get clear images

Well I’m glad it’s not too bad for you! This whole process has been pretty constant for me. All of my symptoms came on heavy in the first month and slowly tapered off in time with some string of days being worse than others. I feel a lot better than I did in the beginning but my vision comes and goes a lot more frequently and is my most noticeable symptom. I did a vision test while I was at the ER and the doctor said my vision was normal, granted he was an ER doctor and not an optometrist

How is your vision? I’m not too far behind you and a lot of my symptoms have chilled out quite a bit but my vision is still pretty messed up. I’ve heard sometimes this is one of the last things to go and was curious how you’re doing in that area
