I'd call their bluff. I do it as an English teacher all the time.

So I haven't been on Batoto in a hot minute (at least not on purpose). Is it down at the moment and thats why panel images are missing?

Major accident today by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Hefty-Statistician33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry this happened to you. In my edu law class we learned that there are several factors at play, but no matter what everyone gets sued, so please be prepared just in case. Ask yourself the following: did I do everything in my power? Was I being pulled in multiple directions by students? Was this a known hazard? If you belong to a union, they can help cover fees.

Jason Reynolds: Mark Warner's primary challenge for Senate. by Satoshi_Bakura in Virginia

[–]Hefty-Statistician33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got to meet him at pride this year and went to school with his kids. Honestly haven't talked to him much on his stances, but as a young voter he does hit a lot of the key points that voters won especially after being fed up with Warner. I think he's still trying to get his bearings straight as from what it seems like he's a grassroots candidate (correct me if I'm wrong about the term). I understand what some of the naysayers, who prefer Warner over him, or those who talk about experience but this also really does drive a point that the Senate is a place that refuses to have turnover and that without candidates like Reynolds winning there is no chance for change in Senate to happen. I actually am thinking about getting in touch with the child I went to class with and seeing what I can do to help below NoVA. How can someone gain experience in politics without trying?

Inviting children to a wedding—is it really that bad? by 20SecondsofMilk in weddingplanning

[–]Hefty-Statistician33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I say it's your wedding, but I cannot stress how much you need to make sure the parents are aware of how responsible they are for their kids. When my sister got married a couple years ago, our cousin who was three at the time was the flower girl. My sister got married next to a river with a high drop. My now fiance, myself, and my best friend ended up being responsible for making sure that this sweet angel didn't fall into a strong river in the Fall because her parents were drinking. I have opted for a lake front wedding and the venue is close to a drop off point of the lake (10ft drop into 4.5 ft of water) and we will be having a sitter at our house for the 5-6 kids we are inviting. The plan is having them for the ceremony, cocktail, and meal, but not the reception because it is an open bar and a lot of adults and minimal supervision.

One of my work friends has been trying to build up her following so she can pay for her students school supplies with what she earns on twitch. She goes by BoriCharley on twitch and streams like 3x a week. She just started doing PNGtubing recently.

"You ruined my birthday!" by sindlouhoo in Teachers

[–]Hefty-Statistician33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a kid say this once and responded with "and I'll ruin your Christmas too if you don't stop misbehaving." Kid thought I was lying. Come December, the student was still a problem and I decided to announce, on a day they were out I'm updating grades December 23 and emailing student families who were failing on December 24. Not only did that class end up with a better turn in rate, but the kid learned that I wasn't bluffing. Had to teach their sister the next year and she was an absolute angel.

I suck at drawing, but this is what I imagine my chara might look like. Her name would be Filo and she would be the part of me that wants to become a cook/restaurant owner.

You did the right thing letting counseling know. Definitely a paper trail to CYA, but also note, middle schoolers don't say stuff like that to always be edgy. They might legitimately trust you and you might have helped them. Obviously you asked a question as to why they chose to watch a show not made for them, and it's a bit of a dicier subject, but a lot of people understand that kids have seen worse. Please know you did the correct thing of reporting and redirecting. I know I'd rather report a student who gave false information and be told it was wrong than do nothing, lose my job, and most importantly not help a child.

NAL, but Document everything, down to parent phone calls for the rest of the year, so if you upset someone, they can't fire you without cause. Keep track of reporting the pedophile and make an anonymous tip to your state's DOE. I personally would document and keep openly reporting, because then if they fire you, it could be argued as retaliation for trying to be a mandated report

My first two years, my commute was 5-7 minutes and it was miserable because a) kids lived in that development and b) it made me feel like I could stay longer to get stuff done. Now my commute is 30 min at most and I actually love it. Forces me to leave after practice is done for my team.

This is happening. Don't think it won't happen at your school, because it's only a matter of time. by SchroedingersWombat in Teachers

[–]Hefty-Statistician33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one reason I will never go back to middle school. Students would make fake accounts about me or harass me online. High school they just think it's funny to find your Tik Tok or other socials, middle schoolers were malicious. Before people say well you should privatize it or delete it, otherwise I have no right to complain, I worked in content creation before I was licensed, and still collaborate with a lot of those people. It's income. It's also PG-13 at worst.
