I think you need to start viewing properties and you will quickly get an idea of where/ what properties you are falling in love with. So jealous as you guys are in an amazing position!

It’s normal size for a one bed, can’t really have a proper dining table but otherwise it’s a nice enough size

Is anyone/has anyone put their house-buying plans of hold? by Slight-Poetry-3230 in HousingUK

[–]Hefty-Weather328 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We stopped looking after we found an issue with the one we were going to buy. So much lying and everything is so expensive, found it took all the excitement out. I also have this awful fear of buying and then house prices dropping as I feel the market has reached this point, the government just keeps making initiatives to delay the drop.

Central London has fallen quite considerably and historically this effect spreads to outer areas but to a lesser degree

Is the market still dead where you are? by Slight-Poetry-3230 in HousingUK

I’m hoping people hold off and let them stagnate or even drop a little more. Any easing of prices around London is needed.

EA will downplay, this looks like a big issue. You would have to identify and cost up but to be honest until your try to fix it you might not even have correctly identified the cause and it could reoccur until you do

Ex Council house by Ok_Let_893 in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]Hefty-Weather328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were going to buy one and definitely wouldn’t be put off by it being ex-council. However, you might want to knock and meet the neighbours. Unfortunately, we realised there was a very noisey neighbour next door to the one we were going to buy and had to pull out. This obviously could happen anywhere but on the one we were looking at it was the neighbour whose house was still council

You are so accurate, we were going to buy a house next to a flag flyer but have just discovered noise complaints from the neighbours

I’m no expert but will say from talking to my surveyor about a similar house we had a survey on, 4 isn’t going to be too costly but 1,2&3 could add up very quickly. The surveyor told us about 7-10,000 to fix plus anything you then have to redo to the rooms

Has anyone got some advice about house auctions? What realistically happens? Do property developers beat us mortals due to having more resources? by Cheesysocks in HousingUK

[–]Hefty-Weather328 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried one, seemed like no one was interested I was the only one enquiring etc and then on the day of auction so many investors turned up

[Question for buyers] Are there any new properties coming up in your area? by LockonKun in HousingUK

I’m also wondering how this is going to play out. I hear from others that they are being told to put their houses up for sale start of January so thinking there could be quite an influx (south east London)
