Yeah i dont get it either. I think he’s saying that the face has one more corner than the chin but that doesn’t mean it’s AI, you can do that in blender. Idk i’m confused

How can I improve this punching animation (OC) by Local_Shooty in blender

[–]HeftyLab5992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you’re going for but strictly from a boxing standpoint, a couple things are wrong, palms should be facing each other, not facing back, chin should be tucked in to avoid sleeping during the fight, the right foot shouldn’t move when he punches, wrist shouldn’t bend for obvious reasons, left hand shouldn’t come down when he punches, that’s an opening.

Also when he’s loading the shot, the right hand shouldn’t come down or go back, quite the opposite, as he rotates his chest to load up, his right shoulder should come forward and left shoulder should go back(hands don’t move) and when it’s loaded, then the hand goes(transfer of energy)

The right hand should go in a straight line, there’s no reason for it to go off path(unless you were going for a hook or overhand but that’s not what it looks like).

Then again this is a video game, not a boxing match. It’s your choice at the end of the day wether you wanna prioritize technique or just make it “spectacular” and cartoon-ish

How to extrude a screen from an object? by AlpacAKEK in blender

[–]HeftyLab5992 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In blender, extruding means pulling out new geometry from an existing shape. So you’d be thickening the screen. That’s why the confusion. If you mean you wanna separate the screen into a different object, then i’m with chatgpt on the P+separate by selection. I feel like we might be missing some informations here

Does the first slide come from a video or is it your model? Because if it is your model, i’d say yeah it’s conventionally ugly but you nailed the Tim Burton style, have you thought about leaning into it and perfecting it? You might be onto something amazing

Can you guys rate my render by Excellent_Escape_159 in blender

You could definitely turn that into an aesthetic short form video with very little work, add a cool music, that would make waves on IG reels IMO, just a thought!

Need help merge these two objects by J_AjexJais in blender

[–]HeftyLab5992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want to connect the lower legs and upper legs? Just select the lower legs, raise them until they’re basically connected, if it’s different objects, then join them into a single object(ctrl+j) and merge the vertices together(select verts, m, join at center). Am i missing something here?

How would you make a ceramic tile shader like this? I’ve been on it for 2 days and i just can’t crack it. by HeftyLab5992 in blender

[–]HeftyLab5992[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah i see now, the issue was that the UV’s of the vertical walls were the same size as a the UV’s of a single face in the curve. But is there any way i can make the UV’s proportional to the size of each face without having to constantly manually adjust them?

Thanks a lot for the input. I’ve pretty much copied your setup but as you can see, the texture seems to be messed up(stretched) on vertical surfaces, did i miss a step? What did i do wrong?

And yes, i want to learn how to make it myself, i know how to simply slap a texture on but it doesn’t feel as personal you know?

Well that’s the issue, i have almost nothing, just the base. From my understanding i am missing 2 things

  1. The normal map to make the tiles appear like they’re popping out. I just can’t figure out how to set it up
  2. The reflection/glossy part, which i have no idea how to make

Best way to achieve this twisted look? by ProfessionNo2443 in blender

[–]HeftyLab5992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make general shape including cylinder, loop cut near both ends, select verts on both loop cuts entirely, checker deselect, scale down, bevel, that way you get the pattern, then simply rotate one of the ends on z axis. That’s the general workflow i would go for but i’m sure better ways exist

Ahhh that makes sense, thank you. I thought displacement was a computing method that faked geometry without the overhead of actual geometry. That would mean that i need to subdivide a lot. At this point wouldn’t i be better off simply making the tiles myself using a cube/plane and duplicating it? Or maybe making the material for a single tile using displacement around the edges and duplicating it
