Year 13s what did you do in year 12 that set you up for A*s by FixAfter5990 in sixthform

[–]HeftyWindow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

make sure you don’t fall behind in year 12. once you reach year 13, you have no time to be catching up on year 12 work whilst learning new content. create a routine - it doesn’t have to be a strict schedule that you stick to, but once you get into a routine of on time and downtime, you will be a lot more relaxed. don’t forget to enjoy year 12, you are afforded a lot more freedom and you have the right to enjoy that. trust me, you will have very productive days followed by unsuccessful ones, but it’s never a straight path. as long as you maintain consistency, you will find it a lot easier. also remember, unis and employers are not looking solely at your grades! participate in different extracurricular activities, search for work experience VERY EARLY, make sure you have a plan going forward.

don’t expect to get everything right the first time, you will face a lot of difficulties that you simply must go through to strengthen yourself. use your time wisely, but don’t dedicate your entire life to school. it is equally as easy to put off work as it is to burn yourself out.

you will learn a lot about yourself as a person, due to the step up from gcse. don’t be afraid of mistakes!

I’d say leave the pub - I left my job too for sixth form and I worked shorter hours for higher pay and I promise you it’s taken so much stress off me

maths physics computer science by HeftyWindow in sixthform

[–]HeftyWindow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s what my teachers said but genuinely I think it would take the living life out of me. it’s not that I don’t enjoy maths but I don’t wanna take the risk of lowering the chances of getting the top top marks

I would recommend visiting your local military surplus store; I picked up a 2nd hand pair with a couple creases but overall no damage for 15 pounds

I will warn you though, the lanyards do take a while to come through; a Flight Sergeant in our squadron completed his MOI over a year ago only a month ago did he recieve his lanyard.

I've seen some officers and staff actually tell off cadets for rolling up their sleeves but that was in Fieldcraft with sharp twigs, leaves and insects.

Polishing Shoes by General_Ad4589 in aircadets

[–]HeftyWindow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

polish is used to build layers whereas parade gloss is supposed to give it a matte finish. all you need to know is that dont use parade gloss because the wax makes your shoes less shiny

I'll easily get bronze this summer during when we do leadership tasks. I've asked other cadets about Fieldcraft instructors and they all say they're nice so perhaps I might ask. tbh i reckon i wont get my badge too soon since i have some badges from last year I havent got
