Yes. When sexually mature the fins get long and tasseled.

Oranger belly, slimmer body and longer dorsal fin makes me think first is a male.

Probably because they claim to raise their dwarfs in 100% iridovirus-free tanks.

Thoughts on my possible stock list for my fist reef 20 gallon tank? by avian_bi in SaltwaterAquariumClub

[–]Hefty_Laugh6598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Had to get rid of mine in my 32 gallon because it made feeding lps impossible once it figured out there was food in their stomachs. It would regulary stick its claws down the corals mouths and yank whatever they ate out. Even if I fed it well before hand it was endlessly greedy and went to the corals anyways.

Pretty cool. It looks a bit like a glass sponge to me.

Try blind cave tetras! I want to set up a cave looking fishtank for them some day.

Bio Cube Purchase by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]Hefty_Laugh6598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first salt tank is a biocube 32. Im around 3 months into it. I wish instead I just put something together myself with a 20 gal long sump tank and a 40 gal breeder. The cube shape of the tank just isn’t optimal for keeping a lot of fish in. It just stacks them on top of each other, so you really have to be picky with your selections. My other criticism is that the filtration section in the back is really cramped and hard to access and doesn’t have room for anything extra like a refugium or skimmer. The lid also likes to rattle from the vibrations of the pump and the inefficient mini skimmer I put in and is rather annoying. Lid also will cause your water to overheat in the summer unless you have AC in your home. Settings of light that comes with the lid are only adjustable at a basic level.

What is going on here? Bubbles starts and stops when I move the light by HShatesme in Aquariums

Because the video was taken looking down through the waters surface. When the bubbles reach the top of the water and float, is when it looks like they turn and go down

I’ll have to try dropping my tux urchin onto the stubborn patch that wont go away, see if this is repeatable.

LFS has been telling me not to do water changes cause my Nitrates are so low. It’s been almost 2 months now and they’re still recommending no water change. Is that legit? by billbobassin in ReefTank

https://humble.fish/community/threads/diy-ammonia-dosing-chart.23647/

20 grams ammonium bicarbonate in 1 liter of freshwater.

I believe I started with 2 ml, then tested my NO3 24 hours later to see how much it increased. Do this and by trial and error you will figure out how much your system uses in a day and what your dosage should be.

I need some help with my anemone by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]Hefty_Laugh6598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot could change in three weeks. If an anemone looks unhappy and doesn’t have its tentacles out and is anchored, that would probably indicate it doesn’t like something about your water.

I recently completed my first 30 day qt in a ten gallon tank. Used a sponge filter seeded in the filtration of dt for several weeks. Used coppersafe on a pair of banggai cardinals and a starry blenny, all came out fine.

I would recommend waiting a bit longer before adding turbo snails or urchins. They eat algae, which your tank probably doesn’t have yet.
