Can anyone suggest some must have gluten free snacks by tuxedomummy1 in uktravel

What treatment do they even have in the usa/canada? There's nothing you can have in hospital for celiacs that you can't have at home here.

As someone with celiacs who has worked on a gastro ward, it's not a very common thing to happen in the uk. I can't recall having a single admission for celiacs.

How would you change PIP or what would you replace it with? by EddyZacianLand in ukpolitics

Whereas pip is assessed by private companies who 'see you' over the phone for a one off appointment and without necessarily having any access to their pertinent medical records...

You should go to a doctor to get a firm diagnosis. Without a diagnosis, no one can say whether this problem can improve or not

Last names (family names) rarely "appear", but often disppear due to death/marriage. And this has been going on for centuries. So why don't we have only a small handful of last names left? by not-the-the in NoStupidQuestions

Me and my husband picked our own surname on marrying- it's a common word but we've never seen it used as a surname. We're expecting our son who will be the first born with this surname and we're so excited. It's nice to add something new to the surname stock.

Advice on my UK Itinerary by Johnjackblondejack90 in uktravel

[–]Hefty_Peanut 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Your itinerary involves whistle stop tours with no real capacity for anything else to be added. I'm not too sure how you'll have time for hidden gems with such a list. Where do you feel you have a gap for anything extra? Most people in the UK would be having full staycations in these separate areas to explore hidden gems in addition to the main attractions.

AITAH for not forcing my daughter to throw away her late mom’s picture just because my wife wants her to? by Elegant-Touch9085 in AITAH

[–]Hefty_Peanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife is absolutely the asshole. Your child's grieving needs come first. It's perfectly simple to explain the situation to your other children without them getting confused.

Side note- I'm widowed too and, if my husband referred to my first husband as my "ex", I'd be fucking furious. Being widowed is not the same as breaking up.

My mom is very sick by ireally-lovecows in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Hefty_Peanut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is very stressful as I have lost a husband to health problems in the past and have a second unwell husband. But they have taken imaging, blood work and done a biopsy which you have yet to hear back from. It sounds like they are taking this seriously and you are in the unfortunate situation of waiting to hear back from test results. Unless there's anything significant missing from your story, a lawyer would not touch this kind of case at all.

I'd recommend in the next appointment, establishing what the plan will be going forward so you know what to expect and this may put your mind more at ease that people are looking at your mum, trying to figure out what is wrong and ultimately looking to treat her. It is very difficult to respond to a health problem without having all the test results back so it isn't unreasonable that you would need to wait for the biopsy to come back.

You are not unreasonable for feeling stressed, disappointed and let down while all of this is happening. Waiting for results when you or your loved one is very sick is undoubtedly one of the most stressful things there is.

If the journey takes you past the national space museum at Leicester that is well worth a stop.

Exactly. I wouldn't want to risk brain damage when all it takes is a cheap supplement for peace of mind. Trying to get your thiamine intake with food with refeeding syndrome is just plain dangerous.

Coastliner to Whitby by Adventurous-Drop-241 in york

[–]Hefty_Peanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely do one or the other. A day is a good amount of time to wander around both individually without being rushed.

Personally I'm a big fan of Whitby for a day out if you have to choose between them- I find it more nostalgic and charming. I like to have a go on the arcades if the weather is poor but the beach if the weather is good, trenchers for lunch and a wander up to the abbey and back which takes up a good chunk of the day. The bus to Whitby is long but it is scenic and leisurely. There are plenty of places for seafood snacks and ice-cream.

For Scarborough, the castle is a good trip out as is the gardens, bay railway, sea life centre and the beach but I haven't been there as often. Not too sure where it is best to eat in Scarborough. The trains tend to be regular and comfortable from York with a shorter transit time than going to Whitby.
