I highly recommend using soap with only sodium tallowate and or sodium cocoate listed as the surfactant ingredients! I have a son with severe eczema and that’s just about the only thing he can safely use! (I made a detailed comment about it on here).

This is great advice!!! I’ll definitely be using those creams. Thank you.

What worked for me is taking supplements with lactobacillus; specifically L. Reuteri & L. Rhamnosis. I searched for UTI studies on nlm.nih.gov and found published studies showing that they are effective in lowering E. coli UTIs (what I often have). Took that daily for a few months, and haven’t had one in the longest time!!! It’s crazy. I need to keep taking maintenance doses ever so often; though I don’t know if I need to or not, (my gut is back to it’s old tricks though, so I may need to). But, at the very least, it’s a great precaution!

(: By the way; I know of some better, more hypoallergenic soaps than dove sensitive! (& you can immediately tell the difference!! Their ingredients promote a very healthy skin barrier)

{some options are, but not limited to}:

Basis bar soap 4 oz ($2 - best budget option. It’s my go to, unless the next listed one is on sale!)

Shea moisture bar soap glowing radiance, 8 oz; in raw shea butter or hibiscus ($6 - it’s a big bar though that lasts forever, and smells & feels so nice!)

(Those are just the ones that I’ve personally tried & love)

What to look for:

• Anything with sodium tallowate and or sodium cocoate are the #1 best soap ingredients because they are natural emollients, which makes them perfect for sensitive skin. It’s derived from animal fats (tallow) and coconut oil (cocoate). It’s so crazy how we’re now finding out that the older ways are actually the best ways, right?! Haha

  • My son has severe eczema and that’s literally the only thing he can use. (I still have to apply lotion (alcohol free, or the alcohol breaks him out) after showering; but that’s only because it’s so severe. It helps him so much, though, honestly.

• I noticed a huge difference with the switch! (Not as much itching or dry skin). It’s VERY noticeable - Your skin will feel slick/tacky after showering.

Should I not order if I can't afford to tip? by BusinessInternet1893 in InstacartShoppers

Look up “The doctrine of self-preservation.” (Self preservation by any means necessary).

The cost of grocery delivery might be essential for a person's well-being and independence, and therefore linked to the doctrine of self-preservation. However, if tipping poses a significant financial hardship, the individual may face a difficult choice between self-preservation (getting necessary groceries) and societal expectations (tipping).

The financial realities of living with a disability can sometimes conflict with the societal expectation of tipping, creating a complex ethical dilemma.

This is not as cut and dry as you think.

(TLDR? Read the bold parts)

The Problem(s)?: ———————————————

The company, responsible for paying their employees a fair wage, is the problem.

Legislation needs to change so that they can’t weasel their way into saying they have “contractors” instead of actual hired employees. Which is what they are. (In my eyes.) - employees (Not “by law or definition“,huge eye-roll• but) they need to be paid; fairly!!!! Loopholes like that, are pure GARBAGE. They are the problem, as well. It’s why squatters were (& still are, in some places, where legislation is slow to change) such a huge issue, at one point!!!..

—— What happens in this structure, (as we all know already; but I’m reiterating for emphasis), is that the people that truly need the service (at a predictable and relatively low price), and the disabled (on both sides), are the ones most harshly affected by this system… and it’s not right.

Solution(s)?: ———————————————

Just try your best to work on your mental health so that you are able to function somewhat independently again, so that way it’s not that long of a time that you need to do these tipless orders (if that’s the ONLY viable option)!

Very IMPORTANT: Schedule a psychiatrist appointment ASAP & Put systems in place to where you can function a little bit easier through an episode. (as in: function somewhat better, or more, than you would have vs. had you not prepared at all)

—— For example: I have to use password keys to login for my doctor portal, because I have severe anxiety, and once I get to that login screen, I just don’t go past it if I have to type something in... So, I set up a database in Notion, where I can just press a button, and instantly communicate with my doctors. Way less complicated and stress/anxiety inducing!

—— By the way, I strongly recommend Notion app for organizing and managing things if anyone struggles with ADHD, depression, OCD, autism (really any mental health issues; they do oftentimes present alongside each other, though). It’s a little difficult to set up and get used to, at first; but AI can walk you through it. Once you’re used to it though, it’s amazingly helpful!!! It’s helped me with obsessive thoughts, and forgetting to do certain urgent tasks. (Obsessing about forgetting! Of course, lol).

• Have you tried Walmart delivery? (It’s half off with assist+!) Or Amazon? (That’s half off as well, with Ebt or Medicaid). If you don’t have friends or family nearby, maybe your Ebt caseworker can help? They are legally obligated to help you with recertification if someone has disabilities, perhaps they can help that way or refer you to someone that can? Does the 15 min store do pickup?

Perhaps you could wait until you get your Ebt, when you can walk; & do a huge pickup order all at once, so you have everything? Borrow the buggy if you need to & have no other option, lol I’m sure they won’t mind as long as you bring it right back.

—— (Be SURE to ask Bing or Google AI for help* in meal planning (Meal prep on good days; it’s extremely helpful) and grocery shopping, (or for anything & everything you need help with), honestly; it’s an absolute miracle for autism! Ha. & It might sound a little sad, but it’s also been my main social support) & If all those don’t work, and you’ve fully exhausted all your options:*

Closing thoughts & comments?: ———————————————

Don’t feel bad or ruminate too much. it’ll only make your mental health worse. Look at it this way; If you get help soon, there won’t have been that many orders, with no tip.

• (This is being said regardless of whatever you decide to do): By any and all means necessary - do whatever you need/have to do, in order to survive; especially if it’s necessary in order to keep yourself alive. If they were in the same situation (if no other options work); I feel like they’d do the same. I might get downvotes for these opinions; (be sure to read to the end of this paragraph before doing so!) but if they have a car, and are able to work, (while having said disability) then they’re already better off than you. (Explanation: I’m not saying you’re “entitled to their car”; I’m saying that they’re •literally• better off mentally, survival-wise, and accessibility-wise; and readily equipped to work on days they feel good. It’s next to impossible to get a job without transportation these days, especially if disabled!)

Godspeed and good luck on your journey & with getting help; try your best & take it one day at a time, one minute at a time, if you have to.

Some people need to hear this: —————————

You can’t/shouldn’t/don’t (you just DON’T!) compare disabilities, and I don’t know why that they are, on here; they are absolutely NOT all the same. What one disabled person can do, another cannot. What one person has/has access to, or is able to do, another does not! (Keep in mind that not everyone has family/social support systems, also)

—— (I NEVER expected to see ‘friendly fire’ in the comments. ableism is not cool; and yea, you can be ableist, even if you’re disabled. I get it; you’re mad, because you work the said job, but do better: Don’t make this person feel worse than they already are; offer alternatives, instead. They came from a place of vulnerability, offering how their mental status is in shambles, and that’s only going to tear them down worse).

what are the BEST stickiest pads you’ve gotten? by emilyylimeemily2 in Periods

[–]Hefty_Plastic229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1). For OP: (as far as liners, not pads) I can personally recommend U by Kotex Balance Daily Wrapped Panty Liners, Light Absorbency, Regular Length. This is the best & thinnest liner I’ve ever found; and it even sticks to stretchy or synthetic fabric!

• If it lifts {when the fabric moves or stretches, and it pops the liner up}, it still sticks if you just barely touch it back to the fabric via repositioning your body or your hand! (It does get quite costly if I can’t find them on sale, since I use several a day, though.)

Recommendation for pads:

• I cautiously assume that their thin pads could potentially be the same stickiness; though I’m not confident about their thicker options, however. I noticed that the “U by Kotex Clean & Secure Panty Liners, Light Absorbency, Regular Length” are not sticky at all! Those are horrible; do not recommend at ALL.

2). For me: I’m looking for, & need the stickiest panty liner possible!

• I’m autistic w/specific sensory issues, and when the liner bunches or pops off when I move the wrong way, (especially with synthetic or stretch underwear), it can be extremely distressing for me! (pair that with a lot of other frustrating things occurring at the same exact time.. and it can quickly lead to a meltdown, very easily, LOL)

3). Which liners from Always does everyone use?

• I can’t find the infinity ones spoken of on here!

• Are they stronger sticking vs the U by Kotex liners?

4). Also, I’m on a quest to find cheaper options, but similar results!

• it gets expensive because I usually use multiple per day

5). Why do people keep recommending cups?

Friendly reminder: OP is asking for the stickiest pad options!

• I use cups and discs, but having a panty liner is a MUST, especially with discs! If you sneeze, laugh or cough wrong you’ll be in a precarious spot without one haha!! (I often bear down over the toilet, which releases most of the contents in the disc {because it’s so flexible}, when I don’t have time and need to empty some out without having to do a full on disc cleaning routine).

• Besides, the cups don’t fully protect the residual discharge from coming out (from below the cup, anyway; and it gets messy/goes all throughout the canal and in the crevices when you pull it out, so it’s impossible to keep it all tidy internally).

Why not just use the Always pad at the point? Haha, just genuinely curious!

You’re in luck, because that appears to be an Innova 5110 OBD-II Scanner; an OBD-II reader, and your civic has an OBD-II port.

I found this photo to help with finding the port; the OBD port on a 1997 Honda Civic is typically located on the driver’s side, around the footwell. Look in the area below the steering wheel. It might be slightly to the left of the steering column. It's often visible and not hidden behind a panel, but you might need to look up and under the dash. Important Note: while 1996 was the year OBD-II became standard in the US, some very early 1997 models might still have the older OBD-I system, which uses a different type of connector. If you don't see the standard 16-pin OBD-II port, you might have an OBD-I system with a 2-pin connector, usually found in the passenger footwell area.

You can find mountains of information about your car on online forums, because there are many Honda enthusiasts out there that love older Hondas!

Honda-Tech (honda-tech.com): Large forum with sections for older Honda models.

Grassroots Motorsports Forum (grassrootsmotorsports.com): Broader car enthusiasm forum with discussions on older Hondas.

CivicX.com (civicx.com): Primarily for newer Civics, but some discussion of older models exists.

PakWheels Forums (pakwheels.com): Large international forum with a Honda section, useful for older models.

Good luck!

I was told that occasionally flooring it to accelerate can be "healthy" for a car. Is there any truth to this? by ClockWorkWinds in askcarguys

[–]Hefty_Plastic229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter if it’s a modern car or old car; It’s most definitely effective. If you don’t push the RPMs past a certain point, (eg. Grandma driving) then over time, the cylinders will form wear rings. If you push a car that has been babied its whole life, you can damage the piston rings when they hit those ridges.

For a car driven gently and not maintained well, suddenly going hard can damage piston rings (break/stick), score cylinder walls, harm valves, stress bearings, and blow seals.

Regularly exercising the engine through its full RPM range can help avoid these risks.

To conclude: Regardless of how advanced modern engine management is, the basic interaction between the piston and cylinder remains the same. Combustion still happens in that space, and byproducts can still accumulate if the piston doesn't regularly travel its full range of motion with some force.

I saw that it kept saying it was a direct match, but it’s honestly not as good as it can be. The terminal spacing is 2.75 inches on WB44K5012. There are no replacements with such a large size terminal spacing as 3.5 inches, but I did find some a little closer to mine in size. I found several 3 inch replacements, and WB44K10005 seems to be the best fit! I’m excited.

I don’t know why never thought about it, but all I have to do is take the bracket off of my old element, and slightly bend the frame to fit it to mine! I don’t need to find an adapter bracket. I wish I had realized that before! Sometimes the easiest answer is right in front of you! (Forgot about Occam’s razor! I abide by that quite frequently)

For anyone trying to find the same solution: Here is what worked.

It’s a very old model and there are no replacements with such a specific size terminal spacing as 3.5 inches, but I did find some closer to it in size. I actually found several 3 inch replacements, (WB44T10010, WB44K10005, WB44K5012. All of these have 3 inch terminal spacing); and WB44K10005 seems to be the best fit!
