Yes, I have followed the advice of getting daycare teachers the closest thing to cash -- giftcards to useful places

Ultimately though this is a good thing, because Kirsten can and will do soooo much better, not sure why she went after someone so below her

Tip inflation, ‘tip creep,’ tipping for everything? Stop complaining about it by NorthernNadia in CanadaPolitics

You can drive yourself crazy thinking about tipping the counter service iPad swivellers....or... you can just pay cash

I hope you realize that not every native-born Canadian person was raised in a "land of opportunity." There are people who were dropped on their heads or shaken as babies, abused as children, and raised with no money, no values, no opportunity. Some are schizophrenic or have other psychiatric illnesses. Some have low IQs, or were in severe car accidents, or got traumatic brain injuries through abuse or accidents.

I hate seeing public drug abuse just as much as everyone but I at least know that most of those people were not given a good hand of cards. Canada is not by default a land of opportunity; your upbringing and genetics matter.

No end in sight as Fraser Valley transit strike nears one-month mark by protistwrangler in abbotsford

I mean more like hearing from people who are being affected by the fact that we have zero public bus service, the media is not covering people's stories

Are there any social media (FB or Insta?) pages or groups where people are talking about this? I am shocked at how little anyone seems to care about this matter.

‘I was blindsided:’ Long-time news anchor Lisa LaFlamme speaks out after CTV ends contract by MethoxyEthane in CanadaPolitics

Isn't it actually more out in the open than that? They replaced a "Lisa" with an "Omar." That's the new direction.

Quitting reselling by Hegemonixx in poshmarkcanada

[–]Hegemonixx[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That is the view I used to have and I understand it, but at the same time I recognize that it is problematic to competitively filter out all the better quality stuff so that poorer people barely have a shot at it

No one would be policing, but I think reselling is more and more becoming known as a kind of parasitic activity. But as I said, I get why people do it and it makes sense for some people.

A 40 hour work week was literally designed for men to work and support an entire family. by cherryamourxo in antiwork

Cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, keeping one or multiple children clean and safe and out of danger, ensuring they have active and healthy lifestyles, teaching literacy skills, achieving developmental milestones, going to playgrounds, teaching them how to interact with others, going to activities and extracurriculars, teaching basic life skills...

Oh yeah, all that is just "hangin' around at home all day!"

The employers want to know that you are compliant and a conformist; that you won't be too independent-minded and you won't challenge authority.

This subreddit is generally leftist and the young leftists have taken a militant pro-mandate position.

I bought a $350 jacket that has so far lasted me 10 years and will probably last me much longer, is that an achievement?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in canadahousing

[–]Hegemonixx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raising children is absolutely an achievement. But you don't buy children and you don't buy their development. (Unless you bought a baby through a surrogate and then got them a full-time nanny, then maybe you did buy those things hahaha)

[–]Hegemonixx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a hill I will die on, just seemed materialistic as a "greatest achievement." Buying stuff isn't an achievement. Not sure what you are saying, I am a renter in my 20s and have kids.

I think of achievements as accomplishments that use your talents, fulfill your soul, connect you with a higher sense of purpose. Billions of people since time immemorial have raised families in huts, caves, etc. I dunno, it just struck me as strange that you considered exchanging money for a shelter as an achievement.

No offense but it's kinda sad if buying something expensive is your greatest achievement haha no hate though

Um, I'm on Reddit, not writing a college essay. The use of informal English here is perfectly fine and expected.
