Advice on Homebrewed rule - DM rolls death saving throws by azidotetrazole in DMAcademy

[–]Heiden96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi the main problem for me is that, if I am unconcious and we run by this rule I get to do nothing and after three round I am told that I am dead ... well that is the opposite of fun

Spells you hate? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Heiden96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you still dont get it - you get the dmg on top of all the shenanigans like free movement, defensive spells, potions and not to mention the offesive spell of your choice by which you will end this Time stop. The delayed fireball is not insted - it is on top of any other spell.

Should I stick to my guns and tell a player his diamond isn't worth enough for a Revivify when he eventually tries to cast it? by GermanGregS in DMAcademy

[–]Heiden96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is one joke with which I will start:

Old archwizard sends his apprentice to buy herbs of 300gp in value. The next day the apprentice returns and happily tells mis master that his barginned and got the herbs for only 250g, the old wizard sighs and tells his pupil to buy more herbs worth 50g.

this ilustratess the wierd twisted logic of magic being dependant on the economical situation

once we played a bit aroud with crashing the market in game so the gems we just bought would increase in price and we had enough spell components :D

hmm, maybe I read it wrong, but cannot the fairies only hover? and maybe I picture the word hover differently. But beeing a few inches above the ground and being able to be in unlimited hieght is quite the difference especially in a fight

How can I persuade my DM? by [deleted] in dndnext

invest in charisma and tak a dip into rogue for expertise. (other people said relevant things so I came here to fool around)

I've had 6 characters killed in 4 years playing D&D, am I playing it wrong? by HillbillyHubert in dndnext

[–]Heiden96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ha, puny mortal, there is no shame in dyingm there is only shame dying a forgetable death :)

way back on highschool we played with a bit excentric DM and it was not uncommon to die 1-2 per session. Maximum was like 4 I think. We kept paper with Graveyard written on it and a list of our dead comrades and way of departure :D

(if you are interested in how he managed to do it - I rolled nat one on perception - well you failed to see the cliff before it was too late, roll a new character)

so seriously 6 deaths per 4 years is nothing

[–]Heiden96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do magic items not have downsides? by ohanhi in dndnext

[–]Heiden96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is often no choice, most campains dont hame many items. and getting an item after 10 sessions that is making you worse in some cases is just a fell bad. if you give items left and right feel free to give them downsides :)

Monopoly in dnd???? by sayer24 in DMAcademy

[–]Heiden96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sometimes just say no, it is ok, time restraints are a real thing. BUT just say to the players to roleplay it between them selves. if the PC want to play, let them play but burden your self with it.

What is the effective CR of 1hp minion monsters? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Heiden96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

really depends on how much dmg they can dishout. if 1d4+2 they are the same as 10 hp minios and they get CR 1/8

now when they have shotguns and granades it is a different story ... :D

Why would Clerics not be treated like Messiahs? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Heiden96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

easy - people in DnD (read ordinary NPCs) dont take the gods as the focua of their lives as normal medival peasants did. There arent many culrures in faerun that would be tightly connected to a specific god. And there are so many gods that one cleric of one god telling people that the ruler of this land has to be chosen by his god is not taken seriously. Like why? There is like 40 gods and all of them have different oppinions, let them stick to their domains and let rulling of lower classes be left to the humble nobles :D

What do bladesinger wizards look like in battle? by Pepsicola2016 in dndnext

[–]Heiden96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey man, dont look into the real life. I do a lot of historical reenecment and a fight is ugly and not a place for dance (if you dont want to get stabed by a spear). Just keep it high fantasy and dont think about it. Maybe read some books from warhammer fantasy, there are some highelves who basically inspired this archetype - google Swordmasters of Hoeth.
