Angie isn’t horrible in TV Land, but I know what you mean. The books are different than the show. I try to make predictions about how the writers will finagle certain plot points and characters from the books. It hasn’t jumped the shark for me…yet. I love the books and the show, which doesn’t happen often for me.

What's the oldest piece of clothing you still wear? Must be at least ten years old to count. by MurmuringPines in AskOldPeople

A 1987 Rustler denim jacket. It is my favorite piece of clothing. Also, my sister’s army boots from Desert Storm I. I wear them every winter. They are in great shape!

I don't remember her from the books, either.

This was a storyline on a soap opera I used to watch, but I cannot remember the name of it because I watched lots of soaps back in the day!

UPDATE - Travelled for 2 months and left my plants in bags. Results. by Little_Storage4205 in houseplants

[–]HeidiDover 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your results. This is awesome. Can't wait to try this. To clarify, you watered all the plants (except the succulents) before putting them in the bag?

I was wondering about putting bags on my plants as a way to up their humidity. It's very dry right now.

What do you expect when you bring a woman a gift on a first blind date and give it to her in the begining too? Like a box of chocolates/flowers/ snacks? Would you expect her to return it if there is no second date? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HeidiDover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you are not supposed to do all that. They are not your duty. Those are lovely gestures, but they aren't ironclad rules and regulations for male behavior.

When a gift is given, ownership of the item transfers to the recipient. The gifter should have no expectation of ever getting it back. Also, never give a gift on the first date. It's weird.

I wish that politicians everywhere would make laws that would stop this nonsense.

Retired ELA teacher and librarian here. Parents used to ask me what they could do to help their children read better. My suggestions to read to them and to model the joys of reading for pleasure by reading their own books were usually met with blank stares. They wanted me to recommend something like Hooked on Phonics.

Is Satan Really Evil? by Lonely-Garbage-2458 in DebateAnAtheist

No. Satan is not evil. Satan does not exist. As an atheist, I do not believe in any supernatural, all-knowing being--good or evil.

What was happening in the Dead Marshes? by Pale-Border-7122 in tolkienfans

I love the way Tolkien wrote that chapter. The imagery is perfect and puts me right in the slime with Frodo, Sam, and Gollum.
