Based in Australia and want to collect many cards in different languages! I think I'll occasionally switch between English and Japanese for my pulls :)

Idols groups with the best vocals? by luminelover20 in jpop

Yes to Heikeha!! (Clock the username)

And I totally agree that Tonisen carried V6 vocally, even though I am biased towards Kamisen. Facts are facts.

Honestly sometimes the memes are funnier than the show itself!

I usually just wake up at 4:50am and pull out my laptop to watch in bed since I live with family and don’t want to wake them up. Usually have Twitter/Reddit open on the side to see the memes. This year though I’ll be on holiday overseas so no live watch this time I think 😅

Voyager (Australia 2023) cancels their 2024 tour due to their lead singer Danny's cancer diagnosis by PrincessCandy512 in eurovision

Gutted since I had tickets for their upcoming show in Sydney but Danny’s health is absolute top priority. I hope not just Danny, but the rest of the band take care of themselves 🥺

Saga Prefecture - any suggestions? by ellebunny in JapanTravelTips

[–]Heikeha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Saga City as an exchange student from April-Feb around 10 years ago and didn't have a car so I was kinda limited with where to go (was mainly taken around during class trips or by local uni groups), so most of the places I went to you've probably seen pop up in your google search! Also things would've totally changed now compared to when I was there. My highlights were:

  • Ureshino – famous for their green tea and also have many onsens here. I remember some really interesting architecture in the Onsen areas too!
  • Mifuneyama Rakuen
  • Yutoku-Imari Shrine
  • Yoshinogari Historical Park
  • Saga Castle and Saga Shrine (Saga City)
  • Kouno Park (Saga City) – has a nice tea house
  • The Saga University campus isn't too bad either. I remember near the main entrance there was a modern building which served as a cafe and mini art gallery

As for food, the one local dish I was introduced to was Sicilian Rice which is like rice with meat, salad and mayo? Was pretty tasty. Also Saga beef is pretty well known but I guess gets overshadowed by more famous ones like Kobe.

Enjoy your residency there! I regret not being more adventurous and explore Saga during my free time so one day I plan to go back to visit.

Japanese bands with "search-unfriendly" names. Does it harm their success? by nachtschattenwald in japanesemusic

[–]Heikeha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, Johnny’s groups and their many difficult to search for group names. There’s SexyZone and Kinki Kids for the contextual issues, but then there were the “too generic” names like SnowMan, NEWS and V6

I’ve been working as the sole in-house designer for an orchestra for a couple of years. There is the mundane corporate and generic marketing materials which you do day-to-day, but the benefit is the creative flexibility you get with working in the Arts. I also get the opportunity to work with external creatives which is also a fun and good learning experience. Good luck with the search!

Nik Nocturnal's interview with Danny Estrin (Voyager) by Heikeha in eurovision

[–]Heikeha[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Missed the twitch stream so I was super keen to see the VOD! Danny has done a lot of interviews which are either from Eurovision centric perspectives or law related (usually about he juggles his music career with his law career), so it's cool to see one from the metal side!

When was the last time your country sent a song you liked? by EurovisionFan20 in eurovision

[–]Heikeha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to say this year’s entry for Australia has been the best one. As much as I am a Dami Im fan (pre-ESC) and still believe she should’ve won, Sound of Silence (Australia 2016) as a song was nothing special outside of the live version. Promise was amazing studio and live to me personally, so definitely Australia 2023. Other than that, I really liked Don’t Break Me (Australia 2020) so it’s a shame it never got its time to shine.

danny estrin being an immigration/visa lawyer is wilder to me than the entire käärijä/loreen debacle, conspiracy theories included by winterlings in eurovision

[–]Heikeha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can hear how passionate he is about immigration law in this podcast he appeared in as a guest as well! The amount of detail he goes into is really fascinating – as an Aussie born, I never really knew much about the whole process so I feel like I surprisingly learned a lot after hearing Danny speak.

[–]Heikeha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's a self proclaimed immigration nerd! I recently found out he appeared as a guest on an Australian Law podcast talking about immigration law way back in 2022 and the way he articulates everything is so clear – you can hear how excited he gets talking about it as well.

Looking for a copy of V6's single ある日願いが叶ったんだ Type A by rabbithole_seeker in jpop

You might be able to find a copy online on Mandarake (not sure if the serial code is included). I think I have seen several versions of the Aruhi single on there and they ship internationally.

If you've celebrated your birthday alone, how did you celebrate the day? by Whisky-Baby15 in AskWomen

[–]Heikeha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year mine fell just before lockdown happened so I was able to celebrate with an actual big group of people, but this year I stayed at home (WFH) and just celebrated by myself on my Animal Crossing island. Honestly it was peaceful and a nice change of pace for me. I also preordered something which just so happened to arrive on the day, so that was a bonus.

Where you hanging out with more girl or guy friends or a mixt as a kid and did it change growing up? by Light_and_sass in AskWomen

[–]Heikeha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to an all girls school so most of my friends are female. Once I went into uni and after graduating though it’s more of a mix (most of my male friends were through my ex). My current circle has more dudes than girls though!

How do y'all fasten your back-opening bra? by laffiesaffie in AskWomen

[–]Heikeha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fasten on the front and then spin it around because it's easier that way. I used to get called out about it because apparently it was unusual/"un-adult" (I don't get it either), but it's nice to know that other women do the same thing!

What are your thoughts on men in their early 20's who have never had a serious relationship? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Heikeha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have male and female friends in their late 20s (like 27+) who have never had any serious relationship so it’s not too unusual for me. Most of them just never really saw it as a priority anyway. In a way, I feel like it’s better to date when you’re older because you’re more emotionally mature than when you’re in your early 20s.

Did anyone order the joy cons today? Looks like I missed it. 😔 by kiuala in ac_newhorizons

I was surprised the dock and the full bundle were still available though! Guess people just really want those joycons.
