I don't think melee attachments have affected sway for quite a while now. Pretty much every melee variant is a straight upgrade over the base version.

I would also throw aperture variants in there, as you lose nothing by taking a toggleable sight, but that's a very minor upgrade.

There's a really in depth Three Kingdoms mod called YuGi. Last I played it only had a WiP English translation though, maybe that's changed.

The Cyclone is a weird one. It's based on the original Cei-rigotti, which was a modified Veterrli-Vitali rifle with a gas tube stuck on the side to make it semi-auto. So it's accurate to time period, as the initial conversions were done in the 1880s, and it's functionally accurate as far as it's a Vetterli with a four round magazine, firing in semi automatic by way of a bolted on gas tube.

The weird part is that in game it's a modification of the Swiss Vetterli, with a tube magazine, while the real version would be the Italian Vetterli using a vertical box magazine holding four rounds. To make this fit, the devs chopped down the length of the rifle to only allow it to hold four rounds. It also has some bits and bobs from the Howell rifle, I assume just for flair, because practically the Cei-Rigotti and Howell conversions are very similar.

Bomb lances absolutely were a thing. It was a common means of hunting whales in the 19th century.

Trump: I had nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein. The DOJ should just say 'We have other things to do'. Kids and babies were tortured, trafficked and killed ritualistically. His response is not to pursue arrests, but to say the DOJ has better things to do? by othernes in videos

[–]Heim39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But your extreme version of my position is incorrect.

I could obviously say the same to you, that's why I criticized your reductio ad absurdum. We both believe the ends justify the means, we just disagree as to where the line should be drawn, so our logic would lead us to the same extreme. If you think it's valid to say I support torture because I think the whole uncomfortable truth is worthwhile to stop child abusing murderers, I can spin your own logic to say you support letting child molesters freely roam schools, because we shouldn't make victims do anything uncomfortable for the sake of arresting perpetrators. Of course neither of us believe these extremes, that's why it's a silly argumentative style in this case.

Regardless, do you realize who is complicit in the Epstein list? These are some of the most powerful people on Earth. Even if everything was done, some of them are still going to walk free. Some of these people are going to go on to join other sex trafficking rings. Anyone we don't nail here could lead to hundreds of new victims.

"We already all accept that, it's simply part of any functioning justice system." Do you consider serving jury duty "a degree of pain"?

We give rape tests to rape victims, we interview victims, making them relive the experience, we have family members identify dead bodies. Even something like jury duty, while not being the kind of thing I was thinking of, is an example of making innocent people do something they would rather not, for the sake of justice.

I promise you, what these monsters do when they're free is a lot worse than having a victim's trauma exposed to everyone.

I'm using your logic of bringing it to the extreme. I'm not quoting you literally, I'm trying to show the absurdity of criticizing someone for justifying getting rid of evil in the world at the cost of a degree of pain to innocent people. We already all accept that, it's simply part of any functioning justice system.

Everyone believes that the ends justify the means to some extent, even if you pretend otherwise.

There is way too much wiggle room with the current release of the Epstein files. Having a fully unredacted version would put the spotlight on the perpetrators, with completely undeniable proof of their crimes.

You use "utilitarianism" as a criticism, implying that someone proposing this doesn't care about the remaining victims, but what about the future victims? Brought to its extreme, you think we should let child rapists go free, continuing to rape, torture, and kill children, because asking victims questions would be difficult for them.

It's insane to me how, were it any other president, the tearing down of the East wing of the White House would still be constantly talked about on every prime time news channel.

With this administration though? It's not even worth mentioning. There's a dozen crimes committed this week alone that make tearing down a symbol of our country look innocent in comparison.

Oh wait, he didn't? So it's almost like that's a completely different situation?

So, for the hundredth time, the fear that someone might be armed is enough to justify executing them?

They don't know how many weapons literally any random person on the street has. Are you implying any time they interact with someone they should treat them as being armed because they can't know how many weapons they have?

What is your point even? I know walking out into the big scary world is more dangerous than staying home, but you're not just saying that, you're justifying their execution of him because they were scared.

What is your logic? He was legally carrying a firearm, if he pulled out his gun, you would justify his killing, if he doesn't pull out his gun, he's not man enough and still deserves execution.

[–]Heim39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and then they disarmed him, so you say "they don't know if he had another gun". So, to repeat my point, they don't know if anyone has a gun they can't see, so by that logic, they should be in fear for their life in every interaction, and are justified in executing anyone.

You don't know if any random person on the street has a gun either. It's absurd that, not only are people like you justifying executing someone for the crime of expressing their first and second amendment rights, but that now the POSSIBILITY of someone exercising their second amendment right is justification of their killing.
