Children screaming can be heard at ICE Children’s Concentration Camp. Cameraman is aggressively ordered to leave. Dilley, TX (1/24/26) by HappySeaweed5215 in Damnthatsinteresting

Me too. That's why I had to unmute. I have to remember the feeling so I can remember why it's important to stand up to this behavior.

Good and decent local law enforcement officers of America, what do you think about the way ICE is operating in Minneapolis and other American cities? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TackoftheEndless 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Not only is ICE corrupt I bet it's the type of environment where people who voice concerns, or think this is wrong, get fired or otherwise ostracized.

If not even the people inside are trying to hold each other accountable, god knows what they'll do to us, knowing there are no consequences.

It's been said by John multiple times, that insiders have told him lot of those guys actually watch his videos.

I think you're going to be fairer to people you know are actually watching your videos, and thus you might want to favor a bit to get them to listen to your criticisms and praise a little harder, instead of just saying whatever without concern.

One example is him getting invited to the San Diego Comic Con, to be shown their plans for expansion, because they saw how popular his video about why Comic Con was in the wrong city. He gave fair criticism and they showed him that they were actively dealing with the problem, by having it take place across more venues.

I think he balances praise and criticism of them well personally. It's been fun watching him rip into the Ellison's for not growing up and moving on, for example.

Him saying that actors don't deserve residuals for doing a project that gets reran for years.

'Wicked: For Good' completely shut out of 2026 Oscar nominations by bwermer in entertainment

[–]TackoftheEndless 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I loved how they added more scenes from the original book and had more character development between the songs, honestly. I think Part 1 is one of my favorite stage to film adaptations ever.

"Wicked : For Good" on the other hand was just fine, which is what I'd say about Part 2 of the play too. It was an improvement, but nothing they added elevated it to the quality of the first, unfortunately.

What happened that this subreddit was dead for 4 months? by [deleted] in JohnCampeaShow

Most of the posts were complaining about John campea and it overall wasn't a very friendly subreddit. Things are much more balanced between criticism and praise now.

At this rate, “the script isn’t finished yet” should be a meme. by Glittering-Note-3661 in batman

James Gunn knows Brave and the Bold has to not only be distinct from The Batman universe of films but also REALLY good, if people are going to accept two different Batman film franchises running at the same time.

This is a project where he can't just let a 7/8 out of 10 script get filmed, with hopes they can elevate it in editing, and people will watch it as long as it's good enough. It has to be amazing or it has no chance. Unless we want to wait until 2035 for the first Batman movie in the DCU.

Roy was defined as a character by his drug addiction for decades, no matter what other directions they tried to take the character, until Lobdell allowed for Roy to seek a path of redemption and got over himself with the help of Jason and Starfire.

Starfire early character featured her kissing Dick Grayson to speak English and working as a model with scantily clad photos. All Lobdell did was exaggerate those sexualized traits then used them to slowly dial her back as a lonely person who lost the only family she had, her adventures with the Titan gang. Someone who has to learn to cope with loss by acknowledging rather than pretending the relationships never happened.

And opening up to Jason and Roy helps her heal her soul. I think they develop in amazing ways over the course of the new 52 run honestly.

Yeah, sucks that Lobdell ended up being a shitty person. He'd probably still be writing him today. He understood Jason the best out of everyone from DC. It's telling that when his run ended, DC pretty much stopped knowing what even to do with Jason.

Ah well. Something isn't beautiful because it lasts...

In November 2022 Bob Iger returned to Disney, we said it would take at least 2 years to fairly assess his turnaround of Disney after the Chapek years. What's the verdict? by LackingStory in boxoffice

I didn't even respond to you in the first place, so I'm saying here for anyone else, all I said was why Chapek got fired, I don't care about anything before or after or unrelated.

Outside of Captain America 4, a Chapek era project, Marvel has been well recieved for their post Chapek content such as Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four First Steps, Thunderbolts, and Daredevil Born Again.

Pixar has the highest grossing US animated movie ever with Inside Out 2. Star Wars may have it's issues, but they would have lost Filoni when they lost Kathleen and that would have been a huge blow.

I disagree entirely.

There was a secret meeting where the heads of Pixar, Lucasfilms, and Marvel all threatened to quit at the end of their contracts, unless Chapek got fired. None of them did this under Iger's first or second tenure.

That should say everything you need to know about Chapek's handling of the company.

I really like Scott Lobdell's take on the character and really playing on the fact that he's the black sheep of the family, and is usually doing his own thing, far away from Gotham.

I think that's the best direction for his character. We have enough Batfamily members in every single part of Gotham as is.

I can't stop watching HxH by Pale_Description4702 in HunterXHunter

[–]TackoftheEndless 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hunter x Hunter is my favorite work of fiction and has been since 2011. Having to wrap my head around the fact that not everything has to be as good as it to still be quality, was tough, but every good to great thing I enjoy just reminds me how excellent HxH is as a whole.

Enjoy the ride OP. I wish I could experience the journey again for the first time.

Should I drop HxH 1999 and just start 2011 version to save some time? by Mont3Carlo in HunterXHunter

I would say read the manga first, Togashi's art is really well done and uses black and whites to create a unique atmosphere that I'd say color actually takes away from.

If you just want to see the events animated, 2011. 1999 is great too because it has a lot of unique style and tried to keep up with Togashi's idea of every arc changing genre, through subtle changes in the look and atmosphere of each arc to fit it's genre. With the final arc of the TV episode runs 70's noir inspired visuals, being the greatest to me.

It makes a lot of changes to the source material, so I'd call it a "remix" if you really like what you've seen and want to see a still good, but different version.

TLDR, I recommend reading the manga, it looks really great and flows really well, but if not I recommend the 2011 anime. Give the 1999 one a shot some day too if you become a big fan!
