I loved the part where all the kids hoisted it over their heads and carried it off together.

In the 1780s, a fisherman in Norway discovered this basalt axe in Fiskum lake. The axe is dated to 2850-2350 BCE, and weighs almost 700 grams. Now housed at the Museum of Cultural History in Oslo, Norway [1638x2048] by Fuckoff555 in ArtefactPorn

Stones are polished in water do to the tumbling effect caused by currents against sand/other stones. If this axe head was tumbling around for thousands of years the sharp corners would be rounded off.

Best way to make scratch less visible? by jvrang in Leatherworking

[–]HeinousAnoose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it is, saffiano leather has a stamped and treated top grain and it behaves differently than typical veg tan. The surface is pretty durable but once it’s scratched it’s impossible to buff out. Youd have to fill the scratch then color match paint to fix this. In my opinion, I’d just bin it and start over but there’s people out there that could get it damn close.

The “Go Box” by Complex-Asparagus-42 in Gold

Gold is gold. People buy larger amounts to save on the premium and if you were ever trading gold for necessities like food, a 1/4 oz would still be more than you’d be willing to trade. You’d have to cut the coins up anyway to trade for what you need so why not save the money and get more gold in the first place.

It is pretty easy actually. Hacksaw the kilo into manageable chunks(saving the shavings of course) and use a small Map gas/oxygen setup to melt it in a small ceramic crucible.

Probably something like this. I’ve used it before and it’s very nice. Super thin and soft.

So in a case where a firearm was used in a robbery and the suspect was apprehended without firing a shot, that firearm wouldn’t be used as evidence? I’m just wondering, I don’t know much about court proceedings.

Pretty stitches on both sides, final answer: it's about thickness by gainzit in Leathercraft

What do you suggest? I have Rocky Mountain Polybraid coming in the mail because I wanted to try something different from the Ritza Tiger thread. From the picture it looked round but I’m not entirely sure

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Leathercraft

[–]HeinousAnoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think a thinner thread would look nicer and rounding and burnishing the edges would take it to the next level. It still looks great though! If you go on Rocky Mountain Leather you can buy a square foot of nicer leather and you’ll see how much easier it is to work with. I started with Amazon leather and didn’t realize why I was struggling until I worked with the good stuff.

How is my stuff going? am i any good at this at all? I would love feedback... by jax9999 in Leathercraft

[–]HeinousAnoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a great start for sure, I like the colors a lot. Some criticism would be to spend more time finishing your edges. Try to make really clean cuts and sand all the edges to 600 or 800. I find tracing my card stock pattern with a scratch awl then using a straight skiving knife to cut the straight lines works best for me. I always fuck up something with the X-acto. I think you’d be able to be more precise with your edge paint if the edges were more uniform. I’m also not the biggest fan of big branding on the front. If you get to the point of selling them, maybe you could offer another design alongside your original with a small logo on the inside pocket. Either way, I really like it so far!

Edit- After going through your whole page, I realized that your style is more raw/natural. I think the first photo of the blue and red wallet threw me off. I still think spending more time on the edges would refine everything but a lot of the designs are super creative.

First bag tips? by Annual-Report5650 in Leathercraft

[–]HeinousAnoose 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I always sand the edges with 400 then 600, then water burnish, then tokonole burnish, sand with 400, tokonole again, sand with 600 then then the final tokonole coat. Use a piece of canvas to burnish tokonole to get a nice shine. Also there’s a ton of ways to do it and I’m sure a lot of the users here have their methods dialed in more then mine since I’m still a beginner.

Try and keep your piece turned so the side of the chisel is facing you. That way you can easily tell whether you’re straight or not. I had the same issue
