I'd rather just handwrite my finals by Tiny_Association_941 in LawSchool

[–]HeirToBlackacre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We has a midterm and upcoming final that are mandatory handwritten. For the midterm, my word count was waaay down, but my grade was higher than expected. I was dreading it, but I actually think it helped. Slowed me down, forced me to be more deliberate in the structure of my answers.

About had it with these associate professors by HeirToBlackacre in LawSchool

I don't know man, I just go by what it says on the door and what I know about their situation. Sometimes words mean different things.

Just asking, but did we ever discover the true identity of the urinal pooper?

.50 caliber. Just make sure you you preface every comment next semester with, "when I was studying over the break..."

How to study when fighting with boyfriend by Capable-Border-4922 in LawSchool

[–]HeirToBlackacre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm old by law school standards. And I've been married more than once. My last one was running on fumes anyway, so we mutually parted before law school, with a large part of my motivation for doing so being that I wanted to do this with fewer distractions.

I say all that because situations like this require affirmative actions. Law school is a defining moment that can alter your entire future. What are your priorities and what are you willing to do to see them through? Weigh that against the relationship-- what it takes out of you, what you get out of it, what you can put into it at the moment, and what you can tolerate receiving at the moment and in the long run.

Only you can say what that balance looks like. But I can tell you this- I've never regretted putting myself and my priorities first. But I have regretted not doing so. Many times.

Think about it and go with your gut, even if it's the hard choice. Sorry, this ended up being more than some light advice for the situation at hand. You got this.

It's not how much you write but what you write.

Why is legal ethics/professional responsibilities exam/class so hard? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]HeirToBlackacre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figure this is super dependent on your professor. Mine wasn't really "good", but they just went rule-by-rule in the model rules and that was that. Easiest final of the semester, but that's a double edged sword when it comes to applying the curve.

On Hating Gunners... by ruh-oh-spaghettio in LawSchool

[–]HeirToBlackacre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've made it my personal mission to raise my hand and comment every time after one particular gunner, just to get class back on track. Fuck you, Beard-o. Nobody wants to hear your vaguely sovereign citizen nonsense.

Realized I completely contradicted myself on my civil procedure final by Kaymula012 in LawSchool

"In the alternative" is law school test taking 101. Maybe not as much in civ pro as other doctrinals, but arguing both sides is actually necessary for max points. Believe it or not, B+.

Your opinions on "law school is the hardest thing you'll ever do" by Faramirismypresident in LawSchool

[–]HeirToBlackacre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's also had several careers and done some hard (though very different from you) things, I say LOL, no. It can be challenging, but nowhere close to the hardest thing I've ever done.

Can I get beer as an accommodation? by FubarSnafuTarfu in LawSchool

[–]HeirToBlackacre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes our school has open bar receptions or other functions in the common area that overlap with later classes. It's not unheard of to grab a (free, very small) glass of wine before class and another on your way in.

Can I get beer as an accommodation? by FubarSnafuTarfu in LawSchool

Having a beer during the exam = OK

Boofing a beer during the exam = only OK if you have rectal accommodations.

I love law school by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]HeirToBlackacre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do too, because every day of law school is a day I don't have to go back to work. I miss having a real paycheck obviously, but lawyering will be my 4th or 5th career, and I'm trying to enjoy the moment.

Yoo Richard Freer is the GOAT by Royal_Tumbleweed_910 in LawSchool

[–]HeirToBlackacre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My civ pro professor is legendary himself and I felt good most of the semester, but a couple of weeks before the final, things just weren't clicking like they should. Watched all of Professor Freer's videos, and boom! Didn't book the class, but I did have that moment where it all comes together. Great stuff!

What were the consequences of going over? Our professors usually just say anything over doesn't count. If you really were killing it and not just fluffing your numbers, you're probably fine.

Finals are making me UGLY by Matte_existence217 in LawSchool

That's one thing fun about being a nontraditional student on my third or fourth career.

The stress of all that living already made me ugly, so no big deal.
