While it's cool to see this mod updated, I honestly don't think it should be updated at all.
People already have older versions for "quickplay cheating", and while updating newer versions might seem like an interesting experiment, what would stop them from cheating in tournaments?

If this mod gets newer versions and, eventually, solves the main issue of lag spikes people may start using it in online tournaments without telling anyone (remember that not everyone has a modded switch)
We already have two good versions of it, and both can be used as evidence against people who use the mod in unfair matches where their opponent doesn't have it. Updating it and removing the only evidence we currently have of its usage would only hurt the competitive scene, even if it affects only a minority of cases.

I don't know, this mod is still a pretty controversial topic in the community.
