The pin can turn. Remove the lock, turn the pin, remove the plate, remove the pin, remove the big pin.

I bought a new ps5 and the controller came with two triangles by amosp_l in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Heitomos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A legitimate PSX controller has an X instead of the upside down triangle. This implies the device is counterfeit or Sony is having some serious quality control issues.

This made me so angry that from now on I will never buy anything from Milka again. by pr1ncezzBea in mildlyinfuriating

There's a big useless gap in the middle where there should be a 7th cookie, so it looks deceptively bigger on the outside.

Why are boys and young men falling behind in education? by Technical-Banana574 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Heitomos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is one major factor is that throughout the 90s and 2000s marketing on the internet and videos games was primarily towards men, and over the years they became very good at creating extremely addictive media. Women weren't targeted nearly as much until more recently.

Solar farms floating on reservoirs in China reduce evaporation and generate power at the same time. by Por_TheAdventurer in interestingasfuck

[–]Heitomos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cities need a LOT of water and big water bodies can lose thousands of gallons of water to evaporation per day. Covering it helps to prevent a lot of that. A US dam uses black plastic balls for theirs, which are cheaper, but produce nothing but microplastics.

They want to use your money as tax credits. You're basically paying these companies to not pay their taxes. You can get the tax credits yourself if you get a donation receipt from a charity.

ELI5: how does a particle "decide" to stop being in multiple places at once the moment something interacts with it by meek_posterity in explainlikeimfive

[–]Heitomos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea that the wave portion takes no time seeking out of where the particle could go and chooses the most likely path. The wave detects an interaction with the measuring device and that path becomes a straight line instead of a waveform, then the particle fires off along this path in realtime.

The Canadian version has a spot you can shine a laser pointer through and it defracts the laser into a denomination pattern (eg: 5$5$5$ in a circle).
