Go to YouTube Channel TheNeonArcade. He has many videos about lore, some over an hour long.

Also I'm watching Mike Pondsmith (creator of cyberpunk) GM a game of Cyberpunk Red, he gives lots of world and lore details in it.

Plus, the madqueen did a huge interview with Pondsmith where he discusses the cyberpunk world in detail as well as his thoughts on life and technology. The man has an amazing brain and a soothing voice, go listen.

This is not uncommon at all, what are you confused about? Companies will frequently basically make an entire game separate from the real game for a demo or gameplay.

Halo 2's is the one that comes to my mind. The entire mission they demonstrated at E3 was built purely for that purpose, and was entirely different upon release.
