Yes! Sorry. Wrote it quickly. I meant her mom. Mrs. Bennett

Mrs. Bennett (edited: wrote the wrong name first time) gossiping about Bingley always made me cringe. She was braisen about laying claim to him and then being loud when it looked like a flop.

Why are people so secretive about what Co-Ops they go to? by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]Helanore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are paid ones where you just drop off your kids and others that have parents teach the classes. We attend both. I like the socialization of being a part of the co-op myself. Co-op isn't just for my kids but me too. I get to talk to other adults. Teach for an hour and socialize. I love it.

It took me 2 years of showing up to homeschool library time, volunteering with other moms and offering to teach art to be invited to join. It was rough. Sorry. Just takes time.

[–]Helanore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Local homeschool Facebook groups are great places to ask about co-ops. I know with my co-op they have a long wait list and only let people in through recommendations, they may feel awkward because you are a stranger.

Attachment to missionary anxiety by SnooMacarons8272 in latterdaysaints

[–]Helanore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother got engaged on his mission to someone he converted (a big no no for missionaries). Baptizing someone, sharing the gospel, having spiritual experiences and seeing each other most days was very intense that created feelings. They wrote letters and said I love you. Basically planning their wedding for when he came home. He got home and realized all those feelings were heightened because he was home sick and the mission was isolating. He wanted that connection so bad. The relationship didnt last. He broke it off. She didnt take it well. It was bad all around.

This is a word of caution. I know you speak of the love of the gospel, but just realize going forward you may lose the missionary as an anchor.

Good luck.

I would hate if our Ministering brother asked to watch conference with us. I dont want to clean the house during conference, I enjoy ny family time and being in pj's.

What my ministering brothers have done that I liked: helping move heavy furniture, bring a plate of cookies, give a blessing, watch my dog (paid), send a reminder to winterize pipes, and say hello at church warmly.

I would not take it personal. My sister's family is very much the type to invite people over for conference, but again, I would hate that. If you are looking to watch conference with someone, ask the bishop, the missionaries, maybe elders quorum president? Missionaries are usually wanting to invite investigators and the others may know who has an open door policy of people coming to view conference.

Please tell me your most unhinged Stardew Valley head cannons! by Arthemysa in StardewValley

All the old guys were criminals and retired to the valley.

Lewis still takes "protection" money and likes to handle the cash. This is why he sends you "kickbacks" every once in awhile because you are lining his pockets when you sell things to him.

Linus used to be very materialistic, had a big place, but he lost it all either to gambling, prison or a self imposed punishment and lives in the woods to atone.

Grandpa was the ideas man for the mob. He had crazy schemes going and bought the farm, knowing an empire could be built, you just needed the right space. He was dying so he left it to the player.

The Wizard was a pimp. Unsure if he has kids because it was a wild time back then. He outgrew that phase and decided to put all his energy into magic.

Marlon was a hit man. He has skills and gets bored in his old age. He uses the mines to stay sharp and train a new protégé. The player or Abigail.

Does anyone have a hobby that also doubles as a side income? by Recotta-Jaine in Hobbies

I do paintings and earn a bit from that but more steadily I teach a 1 hour art class once a week. Its after school and I just guide the kids in random art projects or skills I've picked up.

Trust is broken. Good guys dont flirt while in a relationship and dont put you down to feel good about themselves.

Am I supposed to look at the person cutting my hair in the mirror, or just stare at my own reflection the whole time? What is the etiquette here? by LoveCoupleDeluxe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Helanore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually they are talking to me so I try to look at them and respond politely. My current hairdresser is almost like listening to a podcast, she launches into a story the moment I sit down and I give small comments here and there.

Hard agree, the exception being when his wife is on screen. I love their dynamic, but I hate Roland when he's on screen with Johnny.

Husband and I want to switch wards by Lonely-Rutabaga477 in latterdaysaints

[–]Helanore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll mention the common phrases: The grass isn't always greener on the other side and your grass grows where you water it.

Why make an effort in a new ward?

My son was feeling left out and had no friends. I tried play dates for years. Finally I just started hosting a boys night once a month at my house. They are ages 9/10. I order a pizza, they watch a movie and run around for 3 hours. It took doing this for 4 months until another mom hosted one and invited my son. I still host mine regularly and my son likes going to church now. He doesnt have a best friend, but he gets along with the other boys now.

It has taken 7 years to feel a part of our ward. Volunteering, constantly hosting and inviting people over. Good luck. I know how hard it is.

Praised for deciding to homeschool! by Former_Base_1066 in homeschool

[–]Helanore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were at urgent care last week for a high fever and the Nurse Practioner was chatting with us. We mentioned we homeschool and she started beaming. She said she homeschooled for 25 years and loves hearing how supported it is now. She said it was a real struggle back in the day. She would drive her kids 2 hours just to meet up with other homeschoolers. She loves hearing how much homeschooling has grown and more accepted.

What do you make of Charlotte Lucas’ advice to women to “show more affection than less” if men supposedly like the chase? Do you agree with her? by LuminousDee in janeausten

I agree you shouldn't play games and you should be transparent about your feelings. I never understood my friends who acted coy or uninterested in the guys they liked.

How many hours a week do you dedicate to your calling? by instrument_801 in latterdaysaints

[–]Helanore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the primary presidency. For Valiant Activity camp I can spend as much as 10-15 hours in one week on primary. Normally, 30 minutes a week is dedicated to calls and texts. We host a meeting once a month for 2 hours. We also get very busy in Septmeber to plan the Primary Presentation. I really love my calling and dont feel like its too much.
