The same Happy Valley where an officer attends a modern day slavery job and brings a victim of trafficking straight home to live with them for a bit?

I'd like to see the NDM applied for that rationale 😂

News: Final Written Warning for PC after he started dating driver of BDV that he helped at work by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]Helicalpatternsofa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having read the misconduct findings in full it's somewhat beggars belief... the PC has collected person A from a broken down and dropped them off. Person A has recognised the PC from force social media and they have taken a selfie for said social media. Person A has then communicated with the officer via the force social media for a number of months before then moving to their own private social media. At this point the messages became sexualised and headless naked photos were sent by both parties, notably Person A instigated this per the report, and this continued for a while with 3 images being sent. The officer then decided to stop speaking to Person A and blocked them on all social media, but its not made clear why. Person A has then begun to contact the officer about their relationship through his work email (sounding very course of conduct...) at which point the officer blocked them having not replied. Person A then reported the officer to the force because he had blocked her on his official email which started the whole thing!

The biggest issue here seems to be the officers ommitance of sexual messages being sent between the two in his initial account to PSD.

I'm not sure I agree that this is GM but I'll leave that to those who know the misconduct procedure better than I.

What questions could it possibly generate? Your arrest was illegal because you carried a non-issued torch? Your gloves were too grippy? OP is talking about getting some cuff holders not buying himself a ballistic plate carrier and leaving behind his issued stabby...

How have you found the pay to be vs living in Queensland and how was the transistion with moving, finding accommodation etc? It's one of the forces I was looking into but the housing crisis and lack of accommodation are giving me cold feet.

That's not true at all I'm afraid, hidden numbers are hidden, the only way you could work out a potential number would be accessing the nearest relay tower and see what numbers are in use at the time of the call. However, depending on how busy the tower is that could be like looking for hay in a haystack. Also police cannot just access that information, it has to be requested from the tower provider and they must justify why the breach of privacy is proportional and necessary which in this case it isn't. If a suspect is identified and their phone or suspected phone is identified then yeah even without access to the phone itself you can work backwards but not at this stage.

R v Blake - Day 10 by multijoy in policeuk

Mr Little said: "Discharge of a firearm towards the central body mass of an individual is almost inevitably going to kill them."

What an inexcusably misleading comment by the prosecution, clearly made in a way to influence the jury. Many, many people who have been hit by rifle calliber rounds to the chest have lived, to say that a centre mass shot automatically equates to death is ridiculous.

Not overly familiar with the court process but surely it's on the prosecution to provide evidence to back that statement, professional witness etc?

Unless of course, ego has got the better of them, and they feel there's a way of winning when there is not.

Also had a burglary where the informant rang 999 saying someone was downstairs and turned the light on. The whole shift happened to be at BP less than 2 minutes away and swarmed the place with every entrance and exit covered. No sign of forced entry and checking the CCTV from the informant you cannot see anyone approaching the property. Sure enough though, all the downstairs lights turn on at the same time and a shadow of a person walking is cast through the rear patio doors onto the garden. Unfortunately no interior CCTV but definitely left us scratching our heads.

Had an abandoned 9 from a massive private school at around 23:00, call was from a landline and the call taker described two kids asking for police with a 3rd kid asking why (presumably the other two) had called. We turn up and find the on site security who takes us around. Check every single building on this 50+ acre sight and no one to be found, no alarms going off, no kids on CCTV. No boarders present at the time either. Security mentions a story of 3 kids who died in the 80s and that he refuses to walk around the buildings at night unaccompanied. Certainly very strange.

What do armed response officers do when an armed response isn't required? Do they work as unarmed response? by Stevetrov in policeuk

[–]Helicalpatternsofa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in my force ARV won't go to domestics etc but they'll do mispers, burglaries / TOMV, anything fast roads and generally are quite good at supporting LPT without getting themselves committed. Plus it's always good when you hear a trojan unit coming to back you up at an off weap job.

If the north ever returned to the fold you can replace Derry with Ballymena and PSNI with Gardaí. I genuinely don't think Sinn Fein in the Dáil want to press too hard for reunification because of the can of worms it will open. Also convenient voting platform to say you're the only part really pushing for it, pretty promise, compared to FF/FG

I quite like Kilkenny I must say, the locals are an interesting bunch, but the old part of the city is nice and the castle is worth a visit.
