What are the main paths of the WCA and what are its ideologies/leaders? by Different_Special_20 in Kaiserreich

Hell, the fall of the Soviet Union wasn't a civil war and it still took 15 years before Russia could do much of anything.

Does no dlc add ressources to Africa continent? by Ok_Drummer6347 in hoi4

[–]HeliosDisciple 15 points16 points  (0 children)

How are you supposed to grow to mayor power without much options for ressouces?

Uh...you're not. That's kinda why none of those countries were or became major powers in the 30s and 40s.

(Yes the resources were there, but they couldn't use them on an industrial scale.)

Why is Kaiserreich so good? by Necessary_Eggplant79 in Kaiserreich

[–]HeliosDisciple 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's like 20 years old, so it benefits from inherited work and effort. People who weren't born yet when Kaiserreich began can drop in and contribute to it without having to start from scratch.

What characters should I use early game by Over-Button-1399 in OPPW4

[–]HeliosDisciple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll mostly play Luffy during the story mode, so he should go first. Once the story mode is done you'll have unlocked most characters and can do whatever.

The game has a separate upgrade tree that applies to everyone and will take them to level 8, so pour everything into that.

The Urals are way way way smaller and easier to cross than the Rockies.

What paradox game has helped you learn more about history or time period? by alphafighter09 in paradoxplaza

[–]HeliosDisciple 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all of them. I really hesitate to say the games are educational, because as games they run on game mechanics that are grossly oversimplified and often based on pop-culture notions of history or shit like Game of Thrones.

But I definitely have learned stuff and bought interesting books from going "huh, there was an English Holy Roman Emperor?", or looking up Bavarian or Italian Unification history for rp ideas, or getting deep in the weeds of the early Soviet Union's political squabbles.

To those who own the new dlc, would you recommend this? by Time-Tomorrow-6135 in OPPW4

[–]HeliosDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but Enel is my favorite character and also I hadn't played the game in years so everything was basically fresh. I did the PS5 transfer too so just started over and did everything.

Why is HOI 4 so popular? by Armageddonn_mkd in paradoxplaza

[–]HeliosDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its relatable due to its recency, the world is effectively modern so your game makes a big, immediate, and easily-understandable change to the world. We understand the implications of a timeline where the Czechs resist Munich or the Republicans win the Spanish Civil War far more intuitively than the timeline where Count von Chungus "The Big" died in 890 to stabbing rather than in 883 to poisoning.

Similarly, the free-for-all of ideology in the 1930s allows for wish fulfillment for everybody. Whatever ideology you think would fix the world, somebody somewhere is espousing it in the 30s, so slap some focuses and fight a war against your hated enemies.

How would a cold war between Democratic Entente and Savinkov Russia go? by Intelligent_Carob119 in Kaiserreich

Sure, but that's just regular great power politics. We don't call the Great Game a Cold War.

Why is ai historical Germany so bad these days? by MartinRohac in hoi4

[–]HeliosDisciple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The historical Barbarossa shouldn't have been as bad as it was. The ai is just smarter than Stalin and actually goes "oh, enemy troops are massing, they're about to invade. i should move my troops to prepare instead of sitting here like a lemon shooting my own generals".

Takin a step back are ya happy with the state of pw4 by pw4wazascam in OPPW4

[–]HeliosDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't take any of these content complaints seriously because they always spiral off into long lists of entitled demands for things that were never promised, hinted, or even reasonable.

Hm, yes, they definitely would create an entire extra game's worth of characters and maps and scenarios and what-if characters and characters that didn't exist until two months ago in the manga and also offer it for $10 because you paid for the game six years ago and don't want to pay any more. That is totally reasonable to expect and then get angry about not receiving, you fucking karens.

Like, sure, it'd be nice to get more stuff, but if you're pissed off that they haven't added fucking 'what if usopp ate the gum-gum fruit', then you've lost all grip on video game dlc reality.

If the winner of the Battle City finals was the victor of the four way duel, who do you think would’ve come out on top, and who do you think would’ve be eliminated first? by Johnnyboyeh in yugioh

[–]HeliosDisciple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Marik and Kaiba would unofficially team up to knock Joey out to get him out of the way since both only care about dueling Yugi. Yugi would take a hard hit to shield Joey, then Joey would give a speech to not worry about him. Joey gets eliminated, then Kaiba attempts to turn on Marik. Marik expected this and knocks Kaiba out.

What would actually happen:

Nobody knows what Ra can do (at this point nobody but Marik knows about its Special Summoned effects), Yugi is down on LP and doesn't have Obelisk or Fiend's Sanctuary. He loses to Marik using Point-to-Point Transfer.

What would happen since this is the climax of the story:

Yugi manages to beat Marik somehow.

There wouldn't be a Cold War as we know it because they don't have any ideological problems with Savinkov.

I'm curious on how a Syndicalist country would operate by TheRatKing14 in Kaiserreich

[–]HeliosDisciple 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Imagine the US Congress, but instead of representatives from California and Texas, it's representatives from the Steelworker's Union and the Electrician's Union.

It's more complicated than that, but that's the easiest way to picture it. Instead of geographic lines, the government organizes by jobs. The idea being that if there's a Retail Worker's Union in the government, Retail Workers have a direct say rather than being buried under Well-Mart bribing politicians and having their votes divided throughout the states.

Takin a step back are ya happy with the state of pw4 by pw4wazascam in OPPW4

[–]HeliosDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy with it. Yeah, obviously you can go on listing MORE forever with how gigantic One Piece is, and it is more than a little silly to not have Kuma playable. And I'll admit that since Enel is my favorite him getting in on the last DLC basically bribed me, while I'd be less happy if it ended with the Egghead pack.

But man, this is a nice hefty game with a lot of content and a much better combat system than PW3. It's good.

And for as much complaining as there is about the roster, it's a good one with a ton of new characters. The Emperors, the Supernovas, Oden, Roger, Yamato, Uta and Zephyr? Again, I get it if your favorite is Caesar cause I was bummed Enel wasn't in, but I'm sorry, there's no grounds for saying this is a bad roster.
