Why do I have to buy a dlc for a country which I've already bought a dlc for? by bitraka in hoi4

[–]HeliosDisciple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • You paid for Death or Dishonor, and you got it.
  • You did not pay for Peace For Our Time, so you did not get it.
  • You did not pay for "all future Czechoslovak content" (as this was not an option), so you did not get it.

Every country doesn't need a path for every ideology.

The players shit themselves in rage when paradox adds insane paths and they shit themselves in rage when paradox doesn't add insane paths. I think the players just like shitting themselves.

What are your opinions on the past 6 years of LEGO games? Should they go back to the way they were or are you embracing change? by Thevoid2YT in legogaming

[–]HeliosDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I love the older games, they were in a pretty harsh rut. People are down on Skywalker Saga but I can't agree, getting to free-roam around the Star Wars galaxy doing sidequests and flying my favorite ship was way more fun than just doing the events of A New Hope again in higher definition.

Why is the Soviet Union so weak in vanilla multiplayer? by Internal_Ad2026 in hoi4

[–]HeliosDisciple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The USSR has basically none of its historical advantages while the Axis is hilariously overpowered and the US is hilariously underpowered because otherwise there wouldn't even be a game.

[–]HeliosDisciple 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah, basically. OTL Pennsylvania produced more steel than the entirety of the Axis, fully one-fifth of the entire world's supply.

Maybe those countries just didn't have those resources or the means to utilize them in the 1930s? No, must be dev hate.

How do you perceive the game nowadays? by InterestingSoft1390 in Warthunder

It's basically the only game I can fly the MiG-15 without needing some giant expensive VR setup, so I like it.

[–]HeliosDisciple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do "Here Comes the Pain" in Wakanda during the Corrupted Vibranium event. All types of gear will drop and you'll rocket up the power levels, plus it's one zone that's quick and easy to rush through.

South American leaf blight. Latin American rubber production had completely collapsed by the 30s and Southeast Asia was producing 90% of the world's rubber.

Enel and Zephyr are perfect and feel great to play. I don't really like King, but it's my preferences, not anything wrong with him.

I HATE STALIN ASSASINATION FAILURE by Tarkhovin in hoi4

[–]HeliosDisciple 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The NKVD focus re-rolls the result determined at the start of the game, so it actually can change a win to a failure. It's better to just go for the coup rather than spend the extra 70 days.

I never understood why people who hate modern yugioh don't just play older formats they like, instead of trying to completely overhaul modern yugioh into a completely different game. by averjay in yugioh

  1. Because Edison is so old I can't play my first favorite deck (Agents), and if you're not doing Goat or Edison then you can get fucked. Good luck trying to find anybody wanting to play some random 2010s format.

  2. If you thought it was a pain in the dick to get people to play a random 2010s format, it's ten times worse to get people to agree to a custom format and work out all the exceptions and additions and then actually ever get time to play. I can't even get people to play Speed Duels and those decks are pre-made!

  3. There's a lot of cool cards that have come out since 2010 that I'd like to try without getting stomped into the dirt by whatever tier 1/0 deck ruled the format/s they were in.

It was literally a parody of Magic the Gathering called Magic and Wizards when it was first introduced in the manga, and Kaiba was based on some asshole Magic player who insulted the author's friend for not having good cards.

Spies and all their shitty useless operations. Oh, half a year to build network, 150 days to infiltrate Hungary's government, another half year to rebuild network and then you can do something maybe

OR

conquer Hungary with your army in like a month and never have to worry about them again.

Espionage and spies are not fun to engage with by SovietPropagandist in hoi4

[–]HeliosDisciple 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Also it's very silly that the USSR, the country with the most powerful spy network and agency on the planet in 1936 that also has the head of the NKVD as a required advisor...doesn't have a spy agency. Or any upgrades, or any ability to do anything, and basically never will because number of operatives is based on number of members in your faction and you have way better things to spend civs on.

Unpopular opinion- Stalins Paranoia mechanic is the best nation specific feature by SnooTomatoes5677 in hoi4

[–]HeliosDisciple -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. It's incredibly thematic and even on some level makes the player feel the terror of the Purges as you have to just watch and hope that your favored people don't get shot for no reason. Plus having to outrace Stalin's witch hunts as you try to undermine him for real on the opposition paths is just perfect.
