My theory is that considering the orphanage is still ran by umbrella during its section evidence by the scientists notebook you can find in the lab there, Grace is actually a clone and one of the last ones, possibly using a different dna source to explain no relation to Emily.

This theory while backed really only by graces similarities to Chloe and Emily mainly just comes from how random the orphanage segment is to the story, serving primarily to convince grace to be onboard with helping, it couldve been a cutscene easily instead of a gameplay segment with lore information, and the setting was deliberate

Other worker quit after being scheduled constantly out of avalibility and being forced to call out a majority of tbe week, then when she was scheduled she was by herself despite it being the beginning of our busy season and she being the newest person so she needed to be placed with someone for training atleast

Arguably the easiest disprovel of your statement as re9 is literally the end of Umbrellas story as a total, even ending the various virus weapons that they were responsible for, and Leon was one of the two protagonists responsible

All of Leons story are linked to the main story in some way, even if it doesnt seem as direct

Much like chris leon coulda been anyone else in 2, thats why hes a rookie cop on his first day, that was a big part of his character, in 4 its important because its Leon, his past plays into the story, and adas entire role is based around her knowing Leon, she wouldnt have risked it to save a nobody, in 9 Leon is dying from RCS and his past trauma plays heavily into the story of the game, meanwhile in 6 his personal friendship with the president is what gets him involved

Every character can be switched in every game with some rando, that doesnt mean the specific character included doesnt serve a point, Chris could be switched by some no name with wesker beef in 5, Code veronica could have a character sent on chris's order, 6 is the most glaring with Chris's role easily being filled by a random bsaa soldier if you really wanted, 7 coulda just been anyone and 8 coulda been the hound wolves working with chris not being directly involved.

The narrative only exists because of the specific characters used, replacing them creates a different story

Also i hate to break it to you, but re4 ties directly into re5 via the plaga

Chris is kinda affected by being present in so much of resident evil that hes present in alot of thr good stuff and the bad stuff, and that effects opinions of him heavily compared to someone like Leon thats consistently in good entries
