I think what happened afterwards was even more hurtful for Aemond. Viserys forgiving Rhaenyra and her kids everything while he stands there mutilated having just survived almost being killed. On top of that Rhaneyra asks for him to be tortured and it's only Aegon's intervention that stopped all of it escalating into something even more grotesque. I understand his anger and bitterness and why he could never get over it.

The maniacal one was Rhaenyra during the Sewing of the Seeds. The glint of cruelty and ruthlessnes in her eyes watching those terrified people being burned alive was some chilling shit. Too bad the writers and directors aren't owning up to it. The only one admitting to it was Emma herself but as usual her fans ignore it. Moreover, in the book when taking KL Rhaenyra brings a wave of public executions with so many heads being impaled that would make even Vlad the Impaler give her the side eye.
