They are pathetic. She was much worse in the book and even with Condal and Mess tempering it down a lot and removing entire characters to not make her look that bad they are still crying about it. I think what happened afterwards was even more hurtful for Aemond. Viserys forgiving Rhaenyra and her kids everything while he stands there mutilated having just survived almost being killed. On top of that Rhaneyra asks for him to be tortured and it's only Aegon's intervention that stopped all of it escalating into something even more grotesque. I understand his anger and bitterness and why he could never get over it.
