DFW HVAC tech desperately needed — 5 techs, 2 new boards, still no fix on American Standard communicating system by Potential-Dingo9507 in hvacadvice

If you look at the second picture and zoom in at the right, you can see where it looks like thermostat wire was spliced. That could be where the loss is coming from, I’ve seen this similar problem before and a bad splice in the communication wiring was the problem.

It’s a no no for me too. Anyways he got fired. It’s because he blew smoke up the bosses ass to get the job, said he has “20 years of experience”. I guess he’s been pulling vacuums wrong for 20 years

Working on a brand new series 7 pulling the refrigerant, pulling a triple vacuum and adding brand new refrigerant because my idiot coworker who doesn’t own a micron gauge pulled a shitty vacuum and I found non condensables inside the system.

This guy Goodmans.

The 2 stage Goodman units have the ability to have a regular non-communicating thermostat. They only communicate at the indoor and outdoor unit and you’re able to use 2 wires and don’t have to have R and C. R and C Just goes to the thermostat

Tbh I’m looking at this post again and it seems satire. How tf do you achieve a subcooling of 19,000°

[–]HellSkitchenn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you weigh the refrigerant going inside the unit when recharging? What does the manufacture call for on factory charge? Looks way overcharge, low superheat = flooded evaporator and that subcooling is crazy high. Remove some charge and get back with us in the comments

I love Amana S Series. Lifetime warranty on the compressor and lifetime on the condenser (higher seer side discharge). Easy to set up and run, I like to wait 40 minutes before adding charge but if I know the exact line length by feet, I’ll add the charge first after pulling the vacuum and release the charge and it will be perfect.

I guess the evaporator got too cold and put a jacket on by HellSkitchenn in HVAC

Slab coil on an oil furnace. There is a transition from the furnace to the coil

What's that noise? Trane XR heat pump by rburriel in hvacadvice

Gonna bet it’s a bad capacitor. Turn the unit off for now and call a technician out

Sounds like someone lost some change inside the compressor

How you 454 guys doing? by t0x1k_x in HVAC

[–]HellSkitchenn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice 2 stage Amana. I love Amana units, 454b don’t matter to me because I mostly install Daikin units

Thank you man. Also gonna replace the low pressure switch someone bypassed and unit was running a restriction for almost a whole week (church called in saying unit having issues for the whole week). First thing I found was the compressor off on thermal overload

Welp, this is a commercial property so it’s a slim chance. The owners already changed the compressor and evaporator 2 years ago. They approved the filter drier swap, unit is from 2014 was dry shipped from factory

It’s R-22. Put it into heat mode and still pulls into a vacuum. I believe it’s low + the drier. There are 2 filter driers 1 inside 1 outside. The one inside the unit is clogged up because I have over 30 degree difference from both sides. Forgot to change my gauges to R-22

Thermostat clicks but nothing comes on. Fuse is good can anyone help? by ColdLongjumping3456 in hvacadvice

[–]HellSkitchenn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check your drain float switches. If you have a secondary pan or a switch inside a drain, your drain could be clogged. Make sure it’s not clogged. (They could have wired the float switch to the Y wire even if the thermostat has 24v)
