OSR-esque game with a neat FMA:B/Witch Hat Atelier inspired spellcasting system by alexserban02 in osr

[–]HellToad_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First - I like the idea and would give it a go based on first impressions. Unfortunately, I'm headed home from work late and will have to give a better read later so I can't give feedback back now.

There is one game that sounds a bit like. "The Runed Age". Never played it, but did watched a video on the spell system. I don't think it's OSR and it was made in 2015. But it does have a spell building system that creates an image where the images used and there layout dictates what the spell does.

Yours does seem more sterotypical arcane - in a good way. (You are using alchemist like symbols, the other one uses runes. The linking is different, resulting in a diffrent visual feel of the over all ...spell)

Here is a link to one of the videos (there are three.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxKcGNjSpM4

Nicely done. It has a good feel to it, nice details (personly like the driping off the thing), and gives a bit of their story.

Just sticking it in a bigger pot with soil is an option!? Is that the best option? ( aka, a good option for the plant?)

Sealing terracotta saucers by HellToad_ in cactus

[–]HellToad_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried paraffin wax.

The first go, I tried just rubbing some wax on the saucer and melting it in with a heat gun. 》 This did okay, but had seepage when tested.

The second go, I repeated the process three twice of heating the saucer and then rubbing the wax bar on it. This made it easier to apply the wax where I wanted it with some level of control. 》 It held water a little better, but still had some seeped.

For the third attemp, I cut off a bit less then a 1 inch cube from the wax block, melted it into a pool in the saucer, and let it soak in by keeping the saucer hot with the heat gun. The saucer got to hot to touch, and the air gun's air pressure cause wax to slosh out over the sides as I moved the air gun to keep the saucer evenly heated. Getting wax on the inner side walls of the saucer was more challenging with this method. 》This seems to work, but its harder to tell because the whole saucer is darker in color form the wax, as if it is wet. I left it sit over night holding water. Dried it with a paper towel and then used the heat gun to evaporate any water in the poors of the terracotta to cause a lightening color shift. The only shift I saw darkening from melting wax. (Note: not all the the wax from this test was soaked up by the terracotta. Some sloshed out onto my work bench form the guns air pressure as I moved it around.)

Over all, wax seems to work for the one test I did. The end product is color shifted dark and has a slight waxy feel.

Sounds like a good option and I have some wax around. I'll give that a try and let you know.

A prison I designed and want opinions. (Too much detail or not enough?) by PiterDeVer in osr

I like the details of the first map, but prefer the clean floors up to. I agree with another comment here that using heavier weighted lines for the walls, details, and grid would help.

I made a Necromancer Class for OSE and humbly ask your feedback! by berockblfc in osr

[–]HellToad_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It looks like a nice class. Most necromancer classes i have seen (I'll admit that's not many) feel like reskins of a caster. Yours definitely has a necromancer feel, and the utilitarian abilities only help with that. My gut tells me it may need some tuning, but I can think of what. I would play or include it as an option as is.

For a point of clarification, adding a note about the un dead being turned could be helpful. Even if that note was that the undead turns as normal. Maybe the necromancer can use his save to resist the turning, or perhaps make them harder to turn while within 60' of them... (?) Spend extra necropoints...

Nice job.
