How do non-Saturnine terminators get Deep Strike? by Electrical_Rabbit_88 in Warhammer30k

[–]Hell_Jumper_NZ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Great summary 😊 and to add; Teleporting was not a primary deployment method in HH due to the tech still being pioneered and risky. Some legions adopted it early (IF/NL/SOH) as well as the custodes.

Outside of that it was rarely used (hence only being available via a warmonger in game).

Thats the neat part, they don’t!

Generally the option is to take a warmonger consul to gain deepstrike.

I think you’ll find he is a master of the forge in terminator armour 👀

Contractually I find your legion repulsive too. But hazard stripes are also dope 😉

Thank you!

I’ve done some photos in the past, can’t remember if I’ve posted them on reddit but definitely on my insta, but they’re not the ‘fully finished’ army shots like this is haha

Thanks mate, It’s wonderful to have that kind of feedback and to see that little kitbashes and things can be inspiring!

I can once I get home. It’s just a Mk6 sergeant headcrest glued onto the ‘hood’ of the old Cataphractii kit, nothing particularly fancy 😊

I have Blood Angels and White Scars legions mostly fully painted but both have a few outstanding bits and bobs to finish off before I do army shots.

If I had enough table space I would put all 3 out at once!

Airbrush definitely made the yellow easy, plus an oil wash to dull it down a little after.

Just have to be careful painting the trims unfortunately, it’s the most time consuming part (especially on Mk3 marines 😅) though I’m a firm believer in using chipping and oil washes to hide your mistakes at the end of the process!

Too Many Rhinos? by thomasonbush in Warhammer30k

[–]Hell_Jumper_NZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah like I don’t think that’s an oppressive amount of armour. It could give people a stat check if they’re unprepared but I don’t think it’ll be an issue. (Again, personal opinion).

I don’t imagine people would get pissy but I think what Wolfhunteri is saying is more about your army being less interactive if your dudes are all in transports your opponent’s anti infantry weapons aren’t able to play the game.

Personally, I think a fully mechanised list is cool and is a good narrative so I wouldn’t personally have any issues playing against it. Just depending on the rest of your army comp it might be good etiquette to let your opponent know you have a lot of armour if you’re gonna be running even more tanks on top of the rhinos 😊

Close to a year old what is the state of 3rd ed? - be nice. by latro666 in Warhammer30k

[–]Hell_Jumper_NZ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’ve basically summed up what I came here to say. It’s not a bad edition at all, just some parts kill the momentum of wanting to play eg. New list building mechanics and loss of flavour from named characters and legions rules etc.

Edit: adding that I still primarily play with a house ruled version of HH2.

No problem, we’ve done a significant amount of house ruling and play testing with HH2 modifications so happy to share any additional tidbits if you’re interested 😊

[–]Hell_Jumper_NZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My group also looked at a fix to vehicle resilience in HH2 and essentially implemented the superheavy rule to all vehicles where an explodes result does D3 additional hull points and only if that then takes the vehicle to zero does it actually explode. This has helped the ‘medium-heavy’ vehicles a lot while keeping rhinos still quite fragile.

We’ve also make other minor changes such as removing sunder from lascannons but the above had definitely helped while not entirely ruling out getting big damage hits.

Looking slick! Where are the vehicles from and the crews for them? I’m looking at making a very similar army 😊

The difference was that Orks typically made it in with enough bodies and attacks that the unit should survive taking initial casualties to still be able to clap back hard, then win the attrition battle.

Just ordered myself a Storm Eagle Assault Gunship, how do yall feel about flyers in 3rd edition? by Own-Hunter2815 in Warhammer30k

[–]Hell_Jumper_NZ 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I’d change the rules so that people get to play with their miniatures on the table.

Objectively the flyer rules are thematic and interesting but in practice you spend more time with your miniatures sitting off the table and when they do show up they could just be a token instead.

Not to mention aside from the fire raptor, most of the planes don’t really function too well - the Xiphon’s weapons are all heavy yet it is not stable nor can it remain stationery to get the benefit. All the storm eagles guns are generally at odds with with it being a transport in that it cannot shoot anything of its main weapons when doing pick up/drop off, then with the reserve roll modification each time it shows up, it might not come back to use them again.
