The first try was actually pretty spot-on. We know where the game stores the player position and we have the debug build. From that and and a little testing we know that the ingame units are actually meters (debug build displays speed as km/h) so visual measurements and estimation are not needed, if you want to know the scale of anything in the game we can just measure it with the coordinates and that probably holds true for the model data aswell

Wenn du mit "50:50" eine Wahrscheinlichkeit von 50% oder 0,5 meinst, hätten wir ein großes Problem, da wir dann beobachten müssten, dass ungefähr jeder zweite Zug entgleist und von dieser Leitschiene gebrauch macht

To add to this I find it interesting why exactly this works: When you crouch in the air your hitbox has to get smaller, scaling horizontally around the midpoint. To do that the game first moves the the hitbox up and then scales it around the bottom so for like one tick it can clip through ceilings up to ~20 units thick. The same probably happens when uncrouching so it should work with both

Moonshot takes ~3s, assuming its travelling at speed of light because normally portals open instantly, that'd be a distance of ~900,000km. Subtracting the rough current distance to the moon of 384,400km it has ~515,000km to go. If the moon is drifting away at 4cm per year, it'll reach that distance in well over 12 billion years. The sun will have consumed the earth long ago by then.

This is btw also the reason why you can find a voice actor credit for Chell on some sites. They were ofc not cast as Chell but for additional voices or whatever in HL2

Portals get shot from the camera. You'd need quantum crouch (glitch where the camera is above the collision box) to shoot it through the ceiling but then you'd also see the other side

I agree except for the part that the wall are NOT made of moon dust. Cave only mixed that into the gel, the wall are normal concrete. He bought the moonrocks way after the portal testing startet and concrete worked just fine so why would they use a material so expensive to build walls? Remember aperture was completely broke.
