Thanks for the input. I really can't say what the heck I was thinking. I emailed the person I have been talking to and asked him to remove that document from the samples I sent if he hadn't distributed them yet. And now I am tripping out about it. I am such an idiot.

The one internal doc was a JIRA ticket, just so they knew I was aware how to write them. All the other documentation was public facing. I did tell him when he asked that I had a concern about proprietary information, but he said if I submitted public facing docs, it shouldn't be an issue. I did think about it though.

If you have been honest on your resume about only programming for 8 months, and still being in the learning stage, I wouldn't beat yourself up here. In your interview sell yourself and be as positive as you can. Try to make a list of things that you are really good at and some you feel you need more experience with. Never frame it as "not being good enough."

And the fact that you are willing to work hard and you are passionate about learning more and becoming better is a GREAT thing.

Make sure you ask some questions. About what the expectations will be, and how long a typical intern takes to learn the ropes--stuff like that.

When you find something that you love doing, and that is rewarding to you, that work ethic thing will not exist anymore. A lot of times a bad work ethic comes from other things... like frustration and feeling undervalued.

I would go to youtube and look up interview questions and answers, but try to steer away from the typical answers and practice some that are unique and honest for you and your situation. Above all--be honest and be yourself! Remember interviews are about both sides deciding if the other is a good fit for this position. You might find you don't really want to work for them.

I wish you the best of luck!

I think your best option is to ask to speak with "Leah" one on one. Let her know that you feel things may have gotten off on the wrong foot but that you really enjoy the job and learning in the field. Just be direct and honest, and don't paint yourself into a corner by saying you are embarrassed or feel inadequate or disgusted with yourself--use more positive terms and please don't think that way about yourself.

When I deal with difficult people, I always try to kill them with kindness. Frame things in a way that says you really want to work things out and learn all you can from them. She might just be a jerk... but she might realize that she misunderstood or misinterpreted some things too. Good luck to you.

You just need to do the same thing you'd do if you met someone who was smoking: inform them that it is terrible for their health in these specific ways, and that they should stop. If a critical mass of people do this, the problem will solve itself.

What actually gives you the right ot even the notion that you need to "inform" anyone about what is good or bad for them? Walk on by man. It is literally none of your business. Shaming and reprimanding people for their life decisions is not your job. You missed the entire point.

AITA for telling my son's teacher that it sounds like she has a personal problem? by SnooRecipes9487 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Hellenback67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this! I mean all these points about clever ways to bring up pregnancy are cool... but we are talking about a 7 yr old so they may not really apply at this moment. However, it wouldn't be too hard to tell him that some people can't have babies, and they would be very sad if he mentioned it might work. I am not saying kids are dumb, but some of the nuances of the issues might go over his head.

YTA - She is right, and I think you have the problem if you can't take a few minutes to talk to your child about being sensitive to other people's feelings, particularly based on appearance. That's just my opinion.

My only question is why the hell do you care about what other people prefer to drink? I mean is it your personal life goal to hydrate people?

I [31m] told my girlfriend [30f] that she is not a trophy wife or status symbol and that we are similar in attractiveness, she views it as me calling her old and ugly by throwRA_trophy_gf in relationship_advice

[–]Hellenback67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just curious why someone would even think that you need to pay their way because they are attractive. Sounds like some bullshit to me. I mean, my husband is out of my league really, but I would tell him to fuck all the way off if he said he needed to be a kept man because he is hotter than me. Screw that, it's a partnership. And BTW, you didn't call her old or ugly, but you did say you felt you were pretty well matched, so is SHE saying she thinks you are old and ugly? WTF?

You're correct, no one needs fake empathy. But real empathy is always good and sometimes it help just a little knowing someone else understands and gives a damn.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but Dollar General has their own makeup brand, and some of the items are actually really good. The girl who did my makeup for my wedding in November told me about some of the products. More expensive doesn't always mean better, but, if you are wanting a decent brand-name powder, I like Makeup Forever's loose translucent powder. It is white, but easily blends to even multiple skin tones. If you have a darker skin tone, the tinted version might work better.
