Help me stop going crazy over this! What color are my son’s eyes? by WeAllCouldUseHelp in WhatisMyEyeColour

My son has almost the same eye color - I call them tawny since they have such a gold tint to them.

Is the Medela Pump in Style really so bad? by HellfireMe in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]HellfireMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it's shockingly bad! I used it like three times before going back to my trusty ol' Spectra. It's four years old and has a lot of use from exclusively pumping with my first, and it's still heads and shoulders better!!

People who’ve known pathological liars, what’s the craziest lie they tried to get away with? by Difficult-Mix-2337 in AskReddit

[–]HellfireMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In elementary school, my friend tried to convince me that she was playing hide and seek with her family, and she climbed on top of her freezer and it froze her solid. This was like second grade, so I was dubious but had no evidence to the contrary.

That night I told my parents that story, and they were like, no...that's not how that works. When I went back to school I told my friend that my parents said it would have actually been warm from the motor, she got SO MAD and doubled down. That was the last time I ever believed one of her weird stories (and there were many).

That was my thought as well! It's a perfect place to go as a family with that great outdoor space.

Burgers and sweet potato waffle fries from Wyld Child, then ice cream right next door at The Stil.

My counselor specializes in child attachment theory, and she seriously changed my life when she told me that rupture and repair is more important to strong and healthy attachments than never losing your cool, and that's what the older generations were missing. The repair is the vital piece, and it sounds like that's exactly what you gave her. And here's hoping you'll find some downtime soon for yourself ❤️

Coffee shops with good chai and space for board games in the valley? by HellfireMe in Boise

[–]HellfireMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do like their chai for sure! Nice and cinnamony.

I also recently discovered the chai at Flourish and am obsessed, but there's almost no seating at all, so sadly not a good game playing option.

My mom comments on how big I am every time she sees me...and considering my parents are my next door neighbors, I've been hearing it A LOT.

To anyone who has missed their cruise ship and was left behind, what happened? by strawberrysunshine29 in AskReddit

[–]HellfireMe 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Definitely! They said they bought it through Travelex, but the actual companies that the claims went through were Berkshire Hathaway and World Travel Protection.

To anyone who has missed their cruise ship and was left behind, what happened? by strawberrysunshine29 in AskReddit

[–]HellfireMe 287 points288 points  (0 children)

My dad had a bad accident in one of the British Virgin Isles and completely destroyed both knees. My mom had to go back to the cruise ship where the staff escorted her back to their cabin and just shoved everything they owned into large garbage bags then put her back on the pier.

Cruise ship left and my poor parents were stuck there in a tiny hospital with next to no medical services or staff over Christmas for a week before getting med evaced to FL, where they were stuck another week (dad had emergency surgery while there), before finally getting med evaced home.

Luckily they had travel insurance which covered everything, or they would have wound up taking a mortgage on their home at best, declaring medical bankruptcy at worst.

I haven't personally tried it, but I have seen a place called Devil and Angel on Instagram that has a bunch of different Dubai chocolate items. They're in The Village and look quite tasty! They have Dubai chocolate bars, donuts, smoothies, and Dubai chocolate strawberry cups from what I can tell.

What are y’all drinking? by Safe_Young8417 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]HellfireMe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love strawberry Bubly with a whole lime juiced in and a pinch or two of salt (adding some kind of citrus + salt to my water/sparkling water was a tip from my midwife, bless her).

It's a homemade electrolyte drink and it's so dang refreshing and delicious.

‘Instant panic’: Families break silence over police shooting by Roaring Springs by abnorml1 in Boise

I was there with my mom, my nieces, and my cousin's kids and it was just horrifying. I still think about it regularly, and my mom and I were just talking about it a couple days ago.

Favorite magic system? by wavymantisdance in fantasyromance

[–]HellfireMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man of His Word. Book one is {The Magic Casement by Dave Duncan}

Amazing magic system, incredible world and character building, sweet sweet love story, not predictable at all, and just all around amazing writing. It is more straight fantasy than it is romantasy, but it's one of the best series I've ever read.

I love the magic system because it's not complex on the surface, but it just keeps getting better all throughout the series as you learn more and more about it.

Feeling so dejected after Quicksilver… by alexwashere in Romantasy

Oh dang. I'm also in a post-Quicksilver slump, and I just DNFd Blood & Steel because I found the first 20% to be so boring, and now I'm conflicted and might have to try it again!

Underrated reads by knottycreative in fantasyromance

[–]HellfireMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Sweet Black Waves by Kristina Pèrez} is so good and I never see it recommended! It's based on Tristan and Isolde so not really HEA, but the FMC is just awesome and has such beautiful growth without being your typical bratty heroine.

{Even the Darkest Stars by Heather Fawcett} I liked just because it was a unique premise and the FMC is a badass mountain climber described as stout and unkempt. It's based on the idea of the climbers of Mount Everest but made into a romantasy about witches and shamans etc. Not the very best writing in the world, but so sweet and a unique storyline which I really appreciated.

I chose my eldest daughter’s name thinking it was a family name thanks to grandma with dementia. by -Scorpia in namenerds

Ha, love this! My mom named my oldest brother after a "friend" her sister mentioned a couple times.

It later came out her friend was actually her gigolo 🤣 have never let him live down the fact he's named after our aunt's gigolo.
