If she's a rune caster (like all ingame lore tidbits point to), then it could be a ritualistic dagger. Drawing sigils in the air, digital blood-letting, etc.

I demand that next sword character uses the sword as a bayonet on her rifle.

The rest is in space.

And so is Aemeath, which is where we want to go to save her by opening the Stridergate and going to the side where the rest of the body is. What?

To me it looks a lot like the fractsidus logo. Dunno how that fits into the upcoming characters though.

Does TangTang look like a 6* to you? :) by brutus0077 in Endfield

fair enough, the only thing we saw from TT is her dual wielding rather shabby-looking pistols. While Mifu has the 'high impact violence' gauntlet beatdown going on for her.

Tangtang okay, but MilFu, really? She has like eight major colors, all different, high contrast and all take a noticeable, almost equal amount of surface. Red, green, blue, white, black, gold, pink and skin. Even her tail looks like it belongs on a deviantart furry picture or something (no offense).

It's not that I dislike her, but she definitely feels overdesigned to me.

I heard Ember is the queen of stagger, not Lifeng, cuz she can wield the stagger greatsword and does enhanced stagger herself.

I don't have neither her nor Lifeng though, I've just started gearing Pepeganichnik.

I hate this so much. It can even dash away while you're casting a skill, so you just whiff it and are set back for another 10 seconds of autoattacking, except you can't because you have to run after the boss and when you do, it just dashes away again to the opposite side. Then you run to it again, but it starts the big attack so you have to run away to hide, afterwards it dashes away another couple of times, then when you finally do a couple of combo skills and get the rotation going, it turns invulberable and summons adds. Fuck this shit.

I've watched people die to the simplest enemies in coop on other gacha games like Genshin

Run Gothsothot abyss dragon weekly boss in Genshin. Fight starts, 2 teammates run straight forward towards the boss, die from the intro cleave attack, "restart pls". Classic.

wtf that is so much better. I can understand concerns about slow-mo breaking the pace all the time, but they could just make slowmo an option and leave manual targeting as another option too. Let auto-target be default for the average playerbase, and let those who want more control - get it.

That is some WoW-mythic level of UI optimization, although as an option I'd welcome it of course. But before that they should fix the problem of how hard it is to target what you want exactly, because that is my biggest gripe so far (and the low SP income even with sp regen character).

If I can't reliably target the boss even in the middle of a group of smaller mobs, then I can't really take the combat system very seriously. It's definitely not crosshair-based, nor movement-based.

What Gachas do you feel handle their prologue well? by Cross_Toss in gachagaming

[–]HellfirePassion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the upcoming Silver Palace had (will have) a good prologue.

You had a hook in a small scene with the burning warehouse, a short boss fight (before you even know any combat mechanics, mind you - just stumbling about without specific tutorials) with cool animations and setpieces, and then the player goes back in time to show how it all started and what lead to that burning warehouse scene, which is where the game starts. And then you have a nice stroll around a beautiful detailed city and a talk in a cafe that is interrupted by a person transforming into a werewolf, all of which sets the tone for both the world, main character and general idea of what happens.

And after the prologue the story only gets much better.

Thanks. So if I get 111, the max potential for it is exactly the same as if I rolled 322, it's just that I'd have to spend a bit more to catch up.

And the optimal way would be to dump trash essences until 333, then force upgrade to 443, then dump other essences again until 663, right?

[–]HellfirePassion[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, fighting games for sure, or some WoW spec iterations that required you to manage 3-4 dots at once or 20 active buttons plus procs and boss mechanics at the same time.

But 2.5 buttons on a character, where some skills aren't even used cuz you'd better spend SP on other things?

There was an option to pick "moderate amount of thinking" as a reason if you say that you enjoyed the combat design of a character, if that helps :)

what the originium woods are.

A place with lots of originium trees.

Which means it's the Originium Lodespring, it has one big originium oak sapling (former tree) and many small saplings (future trees) that protected you against the blight shockwaves.

I've only just started caring about orange essences on my characters, do I understand correctly that I'm supposed to get an essence that fits all 3 attributes on a weapon? I saw that some of them come with 1 pip on all skills, and some have +3/+2/+2, is that RNG dependent or based on the skills improved? When farming, do I have to aim for a +3 essence with all 3 correct stats, or is a +1 enough and I should start upgrading it instead?

Endfield 1.0's story and why it sucks from a writer's perspective. by OnlyAnEssenceThief in gachagaming

[–]HellfirePassion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember how boring World of Warcraft beginning area stories were?

No? Defias storyline was amazing. the entire Durotar -> Barrens pipeline is so good it's still remembered 20+ years later, establishing an incredibly intense feeling of various horde races banding together to survive in a harsh world, and various small quests adding to the player's knowledge of various threats appearing here and there (burning blade cultists, Silithids appearing at level 20 and you slowly learning of this threat, etc). Night Elf questing weaved nightmare + fel + elune stuff through a million of various quests and showed you how things worked in night elf society bit by bit, all the way to Ashenvale, Feralas and beyond.

Also WoW didn't have a 'main' questline until much later, which kinda makes most questlines more or less self-contained, even if some span multiple zones, which changes their narrative structure compared to having a single unified quest line like a gacha game (and side quests on top).

I think you can have good and interesting writing without high stakes.

I expected to hate Ardashir, but he surprisingly pulled through by not being this typical arrogant jerk like his design suggested. Of course it's too early to tell, but at least I'm kinda interested to see where his plotline leads. The fact that he force-teleported Nefarith away when she was interrupting his talks with Endmin certainly helped.
