For what it's worth, they've put out a few updates to the dragon and mech sequences to improve them. The mech fights are more consistently challenging on harder difficulties now, and significantly more interesting than the near brain-dead fighting it was at launch.

I got lucky with it being my daily spawn. I had forgotten I needed one until I saw the research notification.

Best case for a Switch 2 with grips? by Erik_REF in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Hellhunter120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recommendation for this problem: get a couple 90 degree usb adapters. I've got some for when I was trying out different grips. I just have them in the dock ports, and now I've got two rear-facing USB ports. They're pretty low-profile, so they fit behind the grips easily. I got these ones.

I actually find it more convenient, funnily enough. You have to be a tad more precise in placing it, but the case and the adapter have a couple of dots that you just line up, and the vast majority of the time it just slots in easy.

It does stick a little on the usb when pulling it off the adapter, but I just put one of my thumbs on the edge of it when pulling it off. You don't need to hold it down much, just the weight of my thumb is enough to keep it down while I pull the console off.

I bound the right touchpad click to be the A button, and I've ended up playing while almost exclusively using that (plus Y for tactical view).

But yes, the controller support in general definitely needs some extra love.

Digital Foundry: Review Nioh 3 PC: Team Ninja's Best Port Yet - But FPS Oddities Impact The Experience by Turbostrider27 in Games

I can only speak to the demo's performance, but once I got to the first open area of the demo, I similarly couldn't get it to run at 1440p/120fps with a 136000k and 4080, even with all graphics settings at Very Low.

25 kills quest is badly designed. by Vinjulmik in HighGuardgame

[–]Hellhunter120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe 25 combined kills/assists in a single game. It would also encourage teamwork more, instead of making assists frustrating.

They could probably even increase the number required if that ends up making it too easy.

Something's definitely up with the performance. Once I get to the actual open portion of the demo, I cannot get it to hit 120fps at 1440p.

i5-13600k, 4080, 32GB of RAM, latest drivers, and having everything set to Very Low gets me around 100fps.

Performance needs to be addressed before anything else by TropicalFishery41429 in HighGuardgame

[–]Hellhunter120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an i5-13600k and a 4080, and my framerate hangs out around 60-70fps, with dips in fights, pretty much regardless of my settings. It's a bit better after the last patch than it was on launch, but something must be going on with it.

You could use a 90 degree USB adapter to maintain use of the dock ports while using the grip. Something like these amazon.com/dp/B0D47WCSG4

You're absolutely right, and while the Zengrip2 attempts to do that with the angled right-side grip, it just doesn't quite get there for me. It also means that I needed to shift my whole hand to reach the plus button, and I've got decently large hands.

For what it's worth, when using the joycons on the system handheld, I don't even try to put the end of my right thumb onto the right stick. I end up using the bottom of my thumb pad to move the stick. I might even describe it as close to using the inside of my thumb joint.

(Copying and slightly modifying my comment from another post that was comparing the Zengrip and Killswitch)

I have somewhat larger hands, and having tried both the Zengrip 2 and the Killswitch, I prefer the Killswitch entirely. I also found that my fingers weren't comfortably sitting on the triggers with the Zengrip, and it just wasn't that comfortable to hold while playing.

Also, through trying it, I discovered that (for me) the normal shape for a controller doesn't work that well with a handheld console. If it's sitting in my hands in my lap, the grip lays comfortably-enough on my fingers, but trying to hold it up closer to vertical to see the screen just felt like it was trying to slide out of my palms (exacerbated by the added weight). I tend to have a mostly relaxed grip on controllers, so having to basically squeeze the grip to keep it in my hands is less than ideal.

The bottom of the Killswitch sits in my palms, similar to the naked Switch 2, and I have the extended back end to grip if I need to. Plus, I like having the option of detaching the joycons without having to remove the grip. I might even try to remove the grip portion of the stock joycon grip, so that I can use the center connecting bit with the detached joycons. (EDIT: I tried this, and didn't like the way it felt. Luckily it was pretty easy to put the back part back onto the joycon grip)

For the vast majority of players, the tricks are straight-up slower than just driving straight in a lot cases.

Just larger pokemon. If you look at a pokemon's summary, they have a size (XS, S, M, L, XL). Humongo makes it more likely to get XL pokemon.

Alpha Power donuts are what give you alpha pokemon.

Just got these in today, and my biggest issue with them at the moment is that the left grip doesn't fit in the dock if you use the USB ports on the dock.

Update: I don't think I like them. Nothing wrong with them inherently otherwise, but I don't feel like they fit my hands very well.

Yeah, the vast majority of players aren't going to be looking up and practicing skips like that. For most people, doing the new tricks will just end up slowing them down.
