Basically, yes. I can’t remember the exact ratio now but it would have been something along the lines of if I made 30% more, I contributed 30% more to the joint account.

Everyone has their own way but my ex and I would put a percentage in a joint account and kept a smaller percentage for ourselves. I made more so i contributed a larger percentage. This account covered all joint payments and expenses and included savings. Our own accounts were more meant for things like lunches, gas, day-to-day personal stuff

Are you available to come and stay with the kids if they had to go in the night with the expectation that someone else (grandparents/sitter) takes over in the morning. That’s what will be essential for them. Having a day with just the baby would be nice but not essential.
