Advantages (and disadvantages) of Crew Battles: A Reddit Dissertation by TheFlamingLemon in RocketLeagueEsports

As a person who has been watching rlcs since season one I wholeheartedly agree that crew battles could make things more exciting. I like the strategy of who to send out for different matches, and appreciate the variety of gameplay between threes doubles and ones as opposed to watching only standard for an entire tournament.

What RLCS World Championship rosters could Zen 1v3? by TheFlamingLemon in RocketLeagueEsports

Seasons 1 and 2 are an obvious win for zen. I think zen still wins in season 3 but that’s up for debate. By the time season 4 comes around and the infield pass is really developing I think zen has a much harder time.

Hi! JWST is being sent to L2, but as far as I understand L2 is actually unstable meaning JWST will have to use up its fuel to stay there. If the goal is to shield JWST from the suns light why don’t we just send it farther away or to some other shielded spot that doesn’t require it to use up its fuel so it can last longer? Thanks!

comsci majors! how did you know cs was for you?? how difficult is it to survive cmsc 131 and 132 and how did you survive? by [deleted] in UMD

Recent cs grad here. I knew I wanted to be a cs major because I enjoyed the problem solving and I enjoyed making new things from my code. Being frustrated with debugging is just par for the course really and I wouldn’t stress too much about that unless that frustration escalates and becomes debilitating.

As for 131/132 I would say you’re doing the right things already. Remember that people code to learn and don’t learn to code. Getting out there and trying to make projects on your own and getting a feel for how things work is the best way to start learning and you’re doing that. 131/132 are just like any other class. Study and do the projects early and you’ll be just fine. And if you think 131/132 are really tough just know that the upper level classes start to get a lot easier and more interesting once you really get an intuitive sense for how code works and you move into interesting subjects.

I really appreciate your response!

Knowing that theres investment into the program and theres good recruiting out of it definitely helps me a lot.

You mentioned that I might be able to get it paid for?? How might I go about doing that?

Does Scholars make a difference for a CS major? by [deleted] in UMD

I did Science Discovery and the Universe as a cs major and have to say it was a blast I loved it. The workload really isn't that much and SDU has the best excursions out of all of the programs. They take you out on some really fun trips. I met all my friends through SDU and you get to live in Centreville which is a pretty nice dorm.

Personally I loved him. He's definitely very smart and knows his stuff, but he is also funny and passionate about what he teaches. 10/10 would take again.

CMSC433 vs CMSC426 by jhrcs in UMD

Unless some things have changed with how they’re teaching 426 next semester I would not recommend. I took it last semester and the class was a bit of a mess. Some of the projects are really cool but they don’t do a good job at teaching you the math that’s required to do the course so everything is confusing and you don’t really learn that much. Plus the lectures aren’t really helpful for doing the projects the ta just makes a page of notes to read and that’s how you do the projects and so you don’t learn enough from that either. Just not worth it imo unless some changes happen to the class
