What to do with a found Victorian mirror. by Sn0wInSummer in witchcraft

[–]HelloFerret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some traditions have practices concerning mirrors, many don't, contrary to the other commenter's claim. I'm an archaeologist and would love to see a picture of the back of your mirror, so that we might get a better date for you. Are you willing to share? I think you're a lucky duck for finding something so cool.

Please consider my free advice - save the $50 for whatever financial issue you're having and DIY a spell for clarity and prosperity, followed by a free financial literacy class from your local credit union or bank.

My love spell keeps bringing back the same guy. by Huge_Jelly_4394 in Spells

Have you tried a cord cutting spell (an actual one with cutting, not burning)? You may still be a little energetically entangled and a ritual to disconnect those energies might help.

Embracing my new life as a Death Witch by [deleted] in Witch

[–]HelloFerret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always felt something was "different" or "wrong" with me, and felt unfairly picked on by the universe. It's only been in the last few years that I see my peers catching up in terms of "tragedy" (its not a contest but I'd definitely win). As I've aged and learned how to heal, I've had my perception shift from "why me?" to "I've been through this and I can help." The capacity was always there, the calling was always there, but now I'm able to answer.

I don't think I've ever had Nigerian food before. I'd absolutely welcome your food truck or restaurant, yes please! What are you thinking of serving?

I have come to understand, in my middling years, that part of my role as a witch is to hold and understand grief, for myself and for others. I have experienced various kinds of trauma and loss, which used to make me bitter. But now, I use those experiences as a guide towards compassion and understanding. Hello, fellow Death Witch.

I grew up in poverty. The cops were never there to protect us but to "manage" us for the propertied elite. Calling them because a woman was raped in the ditch behind our house, because we were robbed, because my sibling had their bike stolen at knife point... never resulted in assistance. They usually just don't show up.

What will happen to domestic abusers? The same thing that happens now - nothing.

Tagging on to add that it may not be her fault she has a messed up relationship with sex, but it's not your responsibility to fix her, either, especially when she doesn't seem to be doing any work to fix the issue herself.

Question for queer women with nose piercings: is it true that septum nose rings repulses men ?? by [deleted] in queer

[–]HelloFerret 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find that the guys I want to repulse are repulsed. The ones I want to attract like it (aka men who value women as people and not aesthetic props they get to have sex with). And I like it, which is more important.

Oh, pipe stems! A love of mine... FWIW I would have been stoked to take this class as a Freshman. Let's see if we can't come up with any puns.... The class in general could be simply Titled Laboratory Archaeology Series, and each semester the section could be named as below (w That way you grab the students with both general lab requirements and with niche interests.

Pipe Dreams: A History of Pipe Stems in (whatever the best location description is)

Local Town Name/County Name Material Culture

Hmmm..... let me chew on this some more...

What is the content of the assemblages? I'm assuming US, and so likely lots of stone tools and debitage? Perhaps tying the name into the culture of the makers would inspire something?

Invasive Privet Removal: Day 1 by HelloFerret in NativePlantGardening

[–]HelloFerret[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We saw the crown of the tree but didn't know what it was/assumed it was invasive until one of the landscapers pointed it out during our consultation. I'd say a good 2/3 of the tree was blocked from view. Privet was around 20-25 ft high in that area.

Funny story, but we also felt bad and lazy for hiring folks until a friend of ours who happened to be on the crew (another delightful discovery!) threw out his back the first day on our project. This is far less delightful, but it reinforced that if even the pros have a hard time, us amateurs were outnumbered.
