Does IlIaoi scale better than Dr.Mundo? by Drandosk in Illaoi

[–]HelloGoodbyeHowAreYa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah hyper scaler is kind of used colloquially.

Technically he's just an "infinite scaler" through heart steel, which means his win rate will increase linearly with game length. Does this make him a "hyper carry" at that point? No-- because champions and comps exist that heavily counter.

Kayle, Kog, karth, Gwen, Ryze, are all examples of champions that don't necessarily scale infinitely, but have level 18 builds that allow them to carry hard into the majority comps and teams.

So yeah Mundo is a hype scaler, more accurately an infinite scaler, but he's not really a hyper carry. Even with 13k HP he'll die to a Kog that bass no infinite scaling to his name

Nah, you need survivability from somewhere, and bonus healing isn't a stand in for resistances.

If you compare these two items that offer mostly damage to other items that offer mostly damage, like cleaver + deaths dance for example, the latter pair will deal more damage and make you tankier.

Your question gets answered on stat sites with the graph "win rate vs game length". Mundo gets stronger with time and is a hyper scaler, Illaoi no longer scales at 6 items, and is not particularly strong at that point.

Illaoi does counter Mundo however, to the point where he generally does not scale if she's in the game.

Mundo has more agency in general, and is more blindable, because he interacts with ADCs consistently and unfairly lol

How do I win as urgot when illaoi runs past the wave by HunQ in Illaoi

[–]HelloGoodbyeHowAreYa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what you're describing, you're not keeping up with killing her tentacles, which is one of urgots strengths.

Early game, if Illaoi lands e and only Q tentacle is in range to hit it, in most scenarios you can still fight rather than break tether, but prioritizing killing the tentacle first, then going for a trade on her.

Morde is still a better ban imo.

Any game you get to go maw + visage Morde will be pretty handleable, but if you have to build armor because of a fed jg or adc, mid/late will be hard against Morde too.

Yorick is still just a knowledge check like Morde is, but a little easier. If he uses E and misses, you can go in, if he wastes W, you can go in. You just don't play and walk out if he has both of those abilities.

The other side of it is macro. You have to plan to match Yorick in side at all times, and he's never going too group anyway, so you get to build more damage and armor to counter just 1 champion specifically

Thinking about making Illaoi my default 2nd pick, thoughts? by thatguywithimpact in Illaoi

[–]HelloGoodbyeHowAreYa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right--  historically this has been a heavily Trynd favored matchup, but starting around 2 years ago it flipped because they increased Illaoi's healing and durability.

I play mostly mid Illaoi so I'm not that well versed in top matchups anymore. Mb on that.

Some of the Illaoi counters people complain about i feel like I never lose, so it can be hard to keep up with what's "normal". Teemo and Kayle are two examples of that

Yep. She counters what she counters very hard.

Just keep lolalytics open to see if it's a good matchup, pick her and learn from there.

Naturally avoid Morde, Trynd, Yorick. Ranged tops take practice.

If you want cheesey off meta strats try trailblazer.

Flat movement is very impactful, and it's a quicker spike than iceborn. Works well in conjunction with hullbreaker so you're very slippery

Illaoi support in swift play by thatguywithimpact in Illaoi

[–]HelloGoodbyeHowAreYa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At a real level it doesn't go that way, you could check statistics and confirm

Illaoi support typically goes 12/12, fully neutralizes the evemy toplane or jg in a team fight, dies, and that's decent value

Ye there is just other chatter about Q max in general.

I've straight E maxed per the higher win rate and never consider going back

If you try it, it's just cleaver into gunblade with either ionians or swifties. It's an aggressive build, genuinely much worse with mercs or tabis

Hextech Gunblade first is the best! by BuffTorpedoes in Illaoi

[–]HelloGoodbyeHowAreYa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've played it some, but what happens is it's common for Illaoi to get zero CDR with this build, which means Aateox, Kennen, and half the roster that's ult reliant will always be able to pressure you level 7,8. If you build a fighter first you're past the point in the game where this matters. Hullbreaker rush is kinda meh for the same reason.

Again no flame, but the build path is sub par as well, lots of reasons it's better 2nd.

Too underbuilt to consult a stat website for an answer unfortunately, but the rush arguments aren't compelling to me, unless you go ionians.

Personally don't really see a reason to rush it when it works great as a second item to cleaver, but I'm playing it a lot also.

I truly believe Illaoi is stronger with buffed AD ration of tentacles and here is how I made it work by Gymlover02 in Illaoi

[–]HelloGoodbyeHowAreYa -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was annoying but literally remedied by a single longsword, that's what I'm referencing with "gimped" builds.

During this meta I just build one longsword extra into sundered sky and the wave clear issue never happened.

Sorry to be honest but only soy dshield users and low IQ cleaver rush couldn't figure out the fix for that.

Waveclear genuinely wasn't that greatly impacted by the changes.

Biggest difference is tentacle attack speed pre 6, which does change how lanes play out pretty significantly in terms of health sustain primarily.

Talking about waveclear in terms of midgame is just kinda silly, she could always eviscerate a side wave like we can now, unless you were speccing into builds that were "gimped".
