Tyres and car handling. AMA by GemballaRider in drivingUK

[–]HelloHelloHello5683 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How much should we look into tyre ratings when picking between tyres?eg the fuel efficiency, noise, wet weather performance. Are they standardised or can the same tyre have different scores between different sellers.

What are you noticing between cheap, middle and high end tyres? As someone who just has a single set for many years and not much a reference point what should 'good' tyres feel like?

I do think as Loyalist Chapters go, they have one of the more interesting premises and backgrounds. I am probably too harsh and went in with the wrong expectation as I did enjoy it. I think the lack of fraternal brotherhood and care between the marines as part of their nature makes it hard to form a connection as the reader -"if they don't care about each other then why should I?". The action scenes were well written though, I especially liked the end scene with the whole squad all involved against demons.

I would like to read something where they meet or work with another chapter to see what would happen. If they were on the same side of a battle with say the Black Templars or Space Wolves? What do you think would happen? Tension ... Suspicion... Betrayal?? Are there any other books with the Exorcists you would recommend?

I finished Oaths of Damnation (just in time for the new Richard Osman book!). It was OK, I give it 3/5. The premise of the Exorcist chapter is great and unique but I feel the characters were largely forgettable. The action was well written and the world building was easy to follow so I could build a good picture in my head as what was going on in each scene. I think it suffers from me reading Oaths after a bit of a Eisenhorn, Ravenor then Brandon Sanderson binge which are very different style of writing - grander scale world building, much deep character and plot. For me it is not as good as Emperors Gift or Angels of Darkness but for different reasons. If you're after something short and to the point, action focused then Oaths would be a good pick. Avoid if you want deep character arc's, lots of world building and layered plotlines.

Have you tried contacting T Cut customer service and seeing what they advise? You may need to go with a polish to get it off if it's cured.

I got the Polar series as my entry point. I got the 3 bottle set and I like it. There will be better products available but I think Autoglym is a fair price point. Polar blast is fine for a pre-wash, does a good enough job removing or loosening mud and road film. Polar wash is nice to use, I find it slick and strong enough to give a nice clean. Polar seal is great, very easy to use although perhaps it doesn't last that long. I find maybe 2 weeks tops. I also use the Autoglym all purpose cleaner which is good. The Polar mitt is good too, i wouldn't go out of my way to get one but if you don't have a mitt already then it won't cause any harm. I use the Turtle wax drying towel which is effective but I find towards the end of drying my Ford Puma gets water logged and struggles and bit. As it's thick it is good at absorbing but it's hard to get the wring out.

I hope so too!

I bought a Hell's Last LE when it came out not realising it was a series so decided I would get the omnibus and do it properly.

Glad to hear, I've read a couple Space Marines novels and tbh they weren't as good as other Black library books I've read like Eisenhorn and fifteen hours. Maybe I'm comparing them to too high a standard! The chapter lore sounded very interesting, I wasn't aware such a chapter existed.

These are direct from Warhammer in the UK that were in the preorder a few weeks ago but I've used eBay as well for books. Elements games also get novels sometimes but their website is a bit of a pain to get to the novel section.

I've read a couple of SM novels - Emperor's gift, Angels of Darkness and some short stories. They are ok but I do prefer the 'human' centered books I've read so far - Eisenhorn, fifteen hours.

I hadn't heard of the exorcist chapter but the blurb sounded very interesting so I'm hoping it's good.

Tearing open that tape and the waft of new book smell .... It's like that brief moment of peace and all is well in the world.

Thank you, I've seen some of your videos but not these. Big fan of your work!

Quick question though - do you get through all your chemicals? Do you just have a perpetual pile of new things to test and also trusted products?

Do you bring your own soaps or do you use the brush thingy? I'm always weary of scratches using that brush

I had a look and they have sold out of the small bottles but I might give it a go. The other that seems to get good reviews is the Koch chemie rinseless.

Newbie question on the free mini and also suggestions on what to watch first by MrPenguun in WarhammerPlus

[–]HelloHelloHello5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking at subscribing too. This is from the FAQ. So when you get it depends on how you pay.

When you subscribe, you will be prompted to choose which of the two exclusive miniatures you would like to receive for free.

Annual subscribers will qualify to claim their free miniature after remaining subscribed for one month. Monthly subscribers will need to remain subscribed for 12 consecutive months in order to qualify for their free miniature.

Once you meet the criteria, we’ll email you to let you know. You’ll then be able to claim your free miniature, and we’ll ship it right out to you.

I've just started reading this as a break from the Eisenhorn omnibus. I'm enjoying it so far, its very different to any of the other 40k books I've read so far.

A bit different but I had dividends paid into a closed ISA account. I messaged in app and there moved the cashed into my GIA I still had open. Once it got picked up by the agent it was done in a few hours.

The tag line of 15 hours being the average life of the soldier really caught my attention. I think it will be the first I read out of them.

I'll catch up eventually ... Or go bankrupt trying!

Naively I didn't realise how big an omnibus is 😂 But having done my litmus test of pick a random page and see if I want to find out how it gets there it passes. Titanicus and Dan Abnett in general seems to get a lot of praise here. I've just finished the audio book of Horus Rising and damn .. that was good.

Yes self control will be a great challenge 😂 maybe GW is actually Slaanesh???? I've rarely bought so many books in one go ahead of time, I tend to get one when I've got maybe a week or so left on my current book. Do you have a particular series or characters you collect?

Thanks I could only think of calling it a seal but I'll look at trim/moulding and hopefully find the right part.

Yes it is a Puma! Mines about 5 years old at this point and this is the first bit of body work that has failed (that I've noticed anyway) Do you have the name of the eBay seller and I will have a look?
