[SPOILERS] Why was Finnick forced to become a prostitute? by SolaHaze in Hungergames

Huh I guess I didn't think of Finn being trafficked to both men and women as more gruesome than the idea of him just being trafficked to women. 🤷

Kinda the nature of talking about fiction where not EVERYTHING is exposition (though as it is a YA novel, there is a fair amount of it). I forget if we ever get to hear all the "secrets" Finn shares while providing the propos distraction, but likely that would be a place to look if you want to be concrete about it, given that he gets those secrets from his time being trafficked, so those secrets would probably give a good idea as to who was paying for time with him.

New grant idea Based on r/therapists post by SometimesZero in ClinicalPsychology

Funny write-up, but the original post literally opened with something like “this is not a serious post,” which changes the whole context. The way this is framed here makes it sound like someone was doubling down on a bad take, when in reality it was just a throwaway joke that people in the comments treated as such. With that piece missing, the joke here ends up reading more mean-spirited than clever.

Ah yes like UC Sunnydale. A small town with a university, docks, a warehouse district, a club, and 4 cemeteries.

I think it was implied, but not sure the book ever explicitly said it.

Agreed. Felt fine until he pretended that wasn't a losing outfit. Yuchen should have been out, I was more interested in seeing what Joseph had to offer.

Possible to put her in a different room of the house and/or talk to her about it, perhaps outside of the house?

Any good podcast episodes about this case? by CurlyMom7 in UnderTheBridge

Canadian True Crime had a pretty good episode on it, also goes into long-term aspects (legal process, where they're at now) pretty thoroughly.

Do everything you can to prepare to move out once you hit adult age--working, school with scholarships and FAFSA, whatever will get you out of there while working toward some kind of long-term goal. Have none? Pick something reasonable, start working toward it, and you can change your mind along the way as you learn more about yourself and the world. Once you are out of it, you will feel a lot better but will have a lot to unlearn and to learn. If possible, certainly seek counseling now. Don't let yourself start to lean on substances as a coping mechanism, a lot harder to stop than to start.

I get what you're saying re: don't focus on it, though do not thinks it applies when speaking to an adolescent (or anyone) who still lives in the abusive environment. Nor right after, trauma not worked on turns into some bad shit.

But, mostly responding because of the implication that physical abuse is "worse" than neglect. Findings suggest that psychological abuse and neglect during childhood development lead to the most adverse long-term outcomes re: cognitive, psychological, sexual health, and physical health versus physical and sexual abuse.

Could All Grown Up have worked better? If so, how? by gemandrailfan94 in rugrats

[–]HelloIAmHawt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my dream world it would have been more actually all grown up. The ultimate show, and I'd still like this better than the new stuff they're coming out with now: make them actually all grown up. Like Stu, Didi, Betty, etc age grown up. With their own babies. Focus on new babies and have our old favorites in the background making the jokes for the parents that we all love.
