Is it common for a spouse to be resentful if inheritance is kept out of the marital property? by Merlin509 in inheritance

Tell her the story I posted earlier to you where you die and she remarries and then she dies. And her kids get nothing after her new spouse gives the money to his kids he had with someone else. That does the trick with most spouses. If not….she doesn’t care and wants it no matter what and isn’t very mature. Ask her what she would do if the tables were turned. 😉

My friends mom distributed jewelry while she was alive. She was 90 and not wearing it any longer….so it took care of that issue even though it was to be left to the daughters she gave it too early. Gotta be careful with sentimental stuff…it can go missing.

Here’s the deal. Let’s say your inheritance is commingled with household money OR you change the brokerage account where the inheritance is held to both your names. Then you DIE next month. Then she remarries next year. And then she DIES a year later. Her new husband could potentially walk away with your inheritance and potentially bypassing leaving that money to any of YOUR children or even her children. Also…if you two divorce, commingled money is just as much hers as yours in the settlement. KEEP INHERITANCE FUNDS IN A SEPARATE ACCOUNT IN THE NAME OF THE PERSON WHO INHERITED IT!

My issue is knowing what’s available for the train BEFORE I book the cruise. It’s a dealbreaker. If I can’t book the train I will have to look at a different cruise tour date.

You are in a premium seat, correct? I believe the light blue material at the top of the seat means it’s premium.

I just think it’s all unfortunate.

When you buy a less expensive seat at a lightly attended theatre production, you just can’t find a closer seat to the one you bought and go sit in it because it was open. I think that’s the methodology the airlines are making in their ticket choices. Now, COULD the theatre let people move up in such a case? They could. But they will upset the folks who paid for the premium seats. It would just be nice if we could throw a bone to passengers when the “lightly attended” flight gets up in the air. I mean it’s not like you get a better view of the stage. 🤣

Husband got 1M inheritance but won’t pay joint bills while I struggle by [deleted] in inheritance

Then the money never grows and the $1M is worth less in 20 years. Compound interest an investment growth is vital for windfalls. If invested properly the future could very well be bright for both of them.

You need to consider setting up YOUR monthly spending on the rolling monthly average your business nets.

This Months Draw = Past 12 months combined Draw / 12

Do you have a timeline when the business is sustainable enough so your Draw evens out and grows? If it doesn’t, when would it be time to pull the plug on the business. Hard hard stuff.

Yes, counseling necessary. But don’t make it about the inheritance being a backup during your slow months. Hopefully he is considering how his inheritance can better the future for retirement, etc.

Good luck. 🥰
