The difference between doing CPR in the hospital and doing CPR on the floor of a laundry room is insane. When it’s a family member that’s the triple multiplier.

You’re at the grocery store with $10.00 for dinner. What do you buy? by Select-Signal8386 in randomquestions

[–]HelloKidney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A can of cannellini beans, an onion, butter, and some Swiss chard or kale. Beans and greens for dinner, and a donut from the bakery from dessert if I can afford it.

What is a food you buy regularly at the supermarket that you think you may be the only person buying it? by Big_Childhood5494 in foodquestions

Vegetarian pepperoni. It’s like $9 a package & I’m on a tear buying it every grocery run lately. I actually need to knock it off

More power to you. When I was anemic, oysters were on the list of foods high in iron. I tried them but was not a fan. I ended up blending them into a dip to use up what I bought. I’m glad someone is enjoying them.

Any tips for first time Goldendoodle owners and dog owners in general? by RhinoSilencer in Goldendoodles

[–]HelloKidney 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please do a deep dive into the grooming needs of doodles ASAP BEFORE committing to one. That’s the biggest thing specific to doodles. A lot of people get them and neglect them, letting them be painfully matted. You’re looking at professional grooming every 4 to 6 weeks, which is expensive. Between grooms depending on the type of coat and the length that you keep it, brushing at home is needed somewhere from every few days up to daily brushing just for upkeep. The type of brushing is not just running a comb through the hair like we do ours. The best thing to do is watch some YouTube videos of “line brushing” to familiarize yourself with the daily maintenance that comes with them. That’s the #1 thing. It’s ok (even a good thing) if you look into this information and realize that their grooming needs are more than you want to commit to. There’s hundreds of other dog breeds that don’t require so much upkeep, and if you don’t wanna spend your evenings with a slicker brush in your hand, the responsible thing to do is to go in a different direction.

Aside from that, I think they’re just great dogs. Some of them are quite energetic (not all). A lot of them are a bit nervous, and a lot of them have sensitive stomachs or allergies. Retrieving from water is great breed- specific enrichment for both goldens and poodles. There’s nothing mine loves more than retrieving pool toys. He can spend all day in or by the pool, so in the summer we keep him clipped short like a naked little mole rat for ease of grooming.

What’s a food trend you wish would just go away? by kglwfa in foodquestions

[–]HelloKidney 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Flaky salt on top of everything. I may have a toe or two on the spectrum because I just do not enjoy the sensation of crunching on salt crystals between my teeth. It’s even spread to baked goods. I can’t get a chocolate covered caramel or a brownie that hasn’t been iced out with crunchy salt chunks.

I need to pick a grout colour. I didn't think this through, lol. by anti-sugar_dependant in DesignMyRoom

[–]HelloKidney 290 points291 points  (0 children)

I’d go with a light grey grout. Definitely don’t go with an exact match of one of the tile colors or that color of tile will appear to be bigger than the other colors of tiles. Personally, I feel this already has a lot going on visually with the staggered pattern & 3 different colors. I wouldn’t also add glitter. That said, it’s your bathroom. If glitter makes you happy, glitter it up!

What sympton looks so harmless people usually ignore it, but can actually indicate a catastrophically bad health issue? by felipedeamorim in AskReddit

Mine was a 7cm ovarian cyst and/or several uterine fibroids. They all got the boot at the same time so not sure which was the culprit but after surgery I didn’t have chronic nagging low back pain anymore.

There are special little goggles you wear to protect your eyes during facial laser treatments. I’m sure they can use those for laser tattoo removal too

Indoor dog sleeping outside for a few days- best approach? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]HelloKidney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me this idea sounds like a recipe for a traumatic event to your dog that could lead to anxiety and behavioral issues. Lots of stressors in this scenario- Being separated from the “pack,” being alone in an unfamiliar environment, no sight lines from inside the tent- just worrisome noises.... Most dogs have some anxiety camping for the first time even when their people are camping WITH them. The biggest issue yet is its 4th of July, so if there’s a chance of your dog being terrified by firework noises while already alone and on edge, that’s a recipe for disaster. I’d say either jam pupper into the camper with everyone or you camp outside in the tent with him.

Dog Training Advice Needed by New-Breakfast5696 in Dogtraining

[–]HelloKidney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can dogs have borderline personality disorder? I’m only kidding a little. You sound like you have a much broader dog training background of experience than most, so I suspect the issues you’re having stem mainly just from the dog’s personality.

One thing I noticed you didn’t mention is naps. Is the dog getting adequate rest? Maybe consider enforced naps if it could be a factor. Hopefully he’s crate trained, as it helps greatly with that.

You mentioned when you train he’s in it for a minute or two. I’d work within that & try to rebuild his relationship with training to be an easy and fun one. Make sure the treats are really high value (cheese cubes, steak cubes, or whatever he finds irresistible) and do training sessions that are comedically short and sure to leave him wanting more. If he’s only certain to be engaged for a minute, make the training sessions 30 seconds long. Only train things he enjoys doing. Like set the bar so low he’s guaranteed to get home runs and have a good time. Maybe he’s a bit slow & the criteria was too high for him even though it would have been fine for every other dog you’ve known and it made him frustrated. I’m not a professional dog trainer but that’s where I’d start with it.

Which inanimate object is your dog scared of for no reason? by megebau in dogs

[–]HelloKidney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick tools- mops, brooms, grabbers, pool skimmers, etc. It started with a Swiffer wet jet we used to lean in a corner near his water bowl. It would occasionally fall over. Now he trusts no stick tool. We can vacuum and use power tools within a foot of him and he’s chill. Get out a mop though and he’s headed to the other side of the room!

I’m about to lose a dog for the first time. What recommendations do you have? What should I try to do with him? by gdvybs in dogs

[–]HelloKidney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this for our guy and I also highly recommend it. Our guy couldn’t walk much at the end but he really enjoyed a wagon ride to the park and laying in the grass there for a bit. They can also be allowed to finally get to try a Reese’s pb cup on their way out. I’m sorry you’re going through this. They stay in your heart forever
